Now that makes more sense. I was really scratching my head trying to figure out how people were putting 75g filters on Kritter keepers lol

Yes Aussie thats the one! Sorry I am no fish expert by any means haha! Sorry for the confusion guys!

Yes, i have a huge bag of crushed coral to go into the bottoms of the pools. I am just waiting to add that until I can get water in them!

Now onto the decorating :) Do you have a picture of your pool system you could share? thanks!!!
I will send over pics asap. My filters are currently unplugged. Sometimes they just stop and I have to mess with them. It is because of the sand. Lol I am currently not able to. I woke up with a migraine and am very medicated. Walking not a great idea right now. :)

The pools look to be no more than a few gallons at most. I would be very concerned about the current that would be generated by that large of a filter for only a few gallons. I may be wrong though. The pools are looking great :)

They aren't for 75 gal tanks. They are for up to 10. I have them in my pools. Just weird names. It is a good size flow but not enough to cause problems for my crabs. They sit under where it comes out and stretch out and clean out their shells. Lol goofy crabs. It is a crabby shower!

I wonder....

Has anyone ever tried stuffing the intake with polyfiber as a barrier to sand?

See, I don't think the spong cover would work. Crabs would eat/tear that down for kicks.

What I am talking about is polyfill. I use it in all my filters as a polisher/bio filter surface.
You know how when you get a new cartridge for your filters. How they have the cloth covering. That.

All it is poly quilt batting.
Rolling it up stuff in down the intake tube. It should act as a barrier for the sand while still providing water flow.

I am not meaning to hijack the thread. Just kinda brain storming.

The craft or fabric section of any big box store or a place like Joanns

Look for polyfiber quilt batting.
I bought a big bag...2 years ago for the fish tanks and I have barely made a dent in it.

Edit- do NOT get cotton or ANY natural fiber. It WILL rot.

Update:
both of my UTH's came in yesterday and are on the tank. I have to pick up some foam board to insulate tonight. Fogger & all cholla wood came in as well! Like I thought, I went a bit overboard on the cholla, hopefully I can fit it all in there. I also bought some beautiful natural tree hide's, purchased some fake flowers, vines and a shelf to have a second level. I lined the shelf with coco fiber like I did in my 55g. So we are all set to go! I am planning on moving the tank either Saturday or Sunday. I have to have some help moving it, otherwise I could do it Friday. As soon as its in place upstairs, I will start to put everything together inside of it.

I have some new residents that will be calling the 125g home! Here they are.. :P
Beatrice

Barnaby

Bambi - on the move

Went right to the pools and swam for hours

Blaze - who has since changed sells to match Barry! The green banded turbo. I knew he would, as there was a hole in his shell

I know this one is hard to see, but I was laughing so hard! This one dumped the supplement dish and propped it behind him like a door so no one could bother his rest. Unfortunately, minutes later, Barry was standing on top of him. It was a good thought though! Lol :hlol:

Hopefully Monday, I will have a almost if not fully completed set up to show everyone! Have a great Holiday everyone!! :reindeer:

Those perlatus look fantastically red! How do you keep them so crimson?

these 4 I just got, so hopefully they can maintain that coloring with me! But you are right, they do have amazing red shades. Blaze and Barnaby are a very deep rich strawberry color. Bambi & Beatrice are a sharper red. The other straws I have, came to me with amazing coloring too, but nothing like these ones! However, I do make sure too feed them foods that are rich in Astaxanthin & Beta Carotene, at least daily or every other day. Some that I do are shrimp, bell pepper, broccoli, carrot, dandelion, mango, papaya, pineapple, spirulina, seaweeds & a color enhancer mix from the crabbage patch.

Hi! I noticed you are using critter keepers as your pools? Just be very cautious as they tend to be brittle and prone to crack.
