That is a bubbler pool. They keep the water fresh longer, and are the cheapest way to create humidity without misting/ saturating the substrate. It also pumps fresh air into the tank, which is a plus as our tanks don't get much aeration since we have to have such high humidity for the crabs. It keeps my humidity in the mid 80's, and the crabs seem to enjoy the pools more with the bubbles. I highly recommend them, as I've never had humidity issues since I've installed mine. If you are in a dryer area, like Arizona, bubbler pools might not be enough, but most people find they really are a lifesaver. :)



I'm getting ready to set up a 10g starter, I guess you would call it, and now that I know they need humidity, if I.made the moss pit and put a bubbler in, and make the substrate moist enough will it be too much humidity?

There really isn't such thing as too much humidity. Mold does occur easier in higher levels, but it won't hurt the crabs. :)
