I decided to do something a little more educational than last time. Abuse my macro lens and get some close up munchy times -with the most disguisting raspberry ever, but that's what he was eating when I got home, so I let him keep munching

i know! That's why I made the video private at first, so my non-crab friends couldn't see it!! why couldn't he have been munching on the melon instead? that was a little less horrifying looking.

I am totally jealous you can hand feed him! Has he always done that or did you have to tame him? Will he let you pet his back too?

I actually got him just two days ago!

For me it's always depended on the crab. Some crabs, will others won't.

there was a good bit of video I cut out that was just me holding him as he was curled up tight. Took him several seconds or so to decide to come and investigate. He then tried to roll the raspberry around that turned it into the lovely "brains" you saw in the video

I've always found that a crab that will come out of it's shell for you rather easily, will usually hand feed just as easily as well. You just have to be very patient and still. Any jerky movement, even a slight twitch, will generally scare them back into their shell.
just find something smelly (fresh fruit, meat, shrimp, etc) that can get their attention and get them pigging out.

Loved the video! He couldn't eat fast enough . So cute as every leg was trying to get hold of that delicious berry. Looks like you found a winner in that little E.

I may have just squealed from the cuteness. What a great video!! Those E eyes just get me every time. I want to try with one of my crabbies now, but I have a feeling the general response would be "Leave me alone while I'm trying to eat, woman!!"
