My first 55 gallon build! Done! (for now..)

Post by hermieluv1 » Sun Dec 21, 2014 4:55 pm

Here is my first build, thanks to all the wonderful and creative ideas I have gotten here! I will change a couple of things but I am very happy so far! Check out the "victory lap" at the end!

Wow, nice! It looks so natural and fun for them to explore. Much better than my first attempt at setting up my 55.

Wow, I really like it! One thing I would like to know is how you made those levels out of sticks... Mostly zip ties & dedication? :)

Thanks! And yes, the second level is a bundle of bamboo-like sticks from Dollar tree, and lots of zip ties! Another $2 project!

Thanks, Jarteta97 . I printed out a photo of your 90 gallon and had it out for reference!

Why did you use for your water bowls? How do you replace the water with out spilling the dirt in the whole where the bowl is?? I have a major issue in spilling water and dirt everywhere when I replace my water!

To change the water, I use a little siphon that I bought at work (NAPA Auto parts). I siphon out the old water into a bucket and refill using a funnel with a long flexible tube on the end (also from work! Lots of good finds at the parts store!)

Cool! I love the bamboo platforms. I'm going to have to steal that idea and make something similar!
4 Purple Pinchers (Hodor, Spree, Rosie, Leonardo, and Lucy), 1 Strawberry (Denver), 4 Ecuadorians (Dexter, Leeloo, Ghost, and Dr. Zoidberg)
1 Pembroke Welsh Corgi (Thorin)
