Coming soon the 40b build. I have another hide I made and a shell shop inspired by another member made out of plastic canvas. I also have a net that I made.
Since I only have 16" vertical space I'm skipping the false bottom.
The lid is screen but I'm hoping to get a glass lid soon. I have 2 clamp lights (office ones not reptile specific) for light and heat. I'm planning a Repti-sun 10.0 bulb and Moon-Glo bulb. Maybe an ultra therm of the lights don't keep it warm enough.
I'm getting an AcuRite gauge to replace the analog one I have.

So I've got them in the 40. It already had 5" sub. Pictures as soon as I finish fussing with it. Of course, I haven't seen shell nor claw since I transferred them. Too many hides. That's good, right. I have the screen lid covered with a box right now to keep in humidity. Need to get some lights on tank soon to keep temps up for the Es.

I increased sub to 7.5" and it leaves so little head room. Getting some sort of glass lid today. Home Depot sells an 18x36" pane and I saw a neat DiY for a sliding glass lid. I may visit a glass cutting place today to get panes to make the sliding lid.

Some teaser pictures. Buzz hanging out by the cholla and Woody traversing the screen lid.
My 40b is really a snake Terrarium with sliding screen lid. I really want a sliding glass (plexi) lid but don't know whether my tank will support it since it's not uniform on all 4 sides. Any suggestions for lids?

I spent a whopping $1 on plastic from the fabric store to cover screen. Seemed easier to deal with than plastic wrap. Pictures soon, I promise. Going to get bulbs tomorrow to light the place (and for heat). I'm using a space heater pointed at the tat to keep the temps up right now. I also have a hood from a 5 gallon with a regular light. It hardly makes a dent because it's a 15w bulb.

Plastic (it's clear vinyl) installed. Heat and uv lamps in place. New tiny crab. Oops, did that just happen? We were at Petsmart and saw a TINY crab that reminded my son of the crab that started this mess and so he had to have Mick 2. (And I may have promised him a new Mick after the baby was born.)
My mom is going to give me her crabs. She thought she had 2Es, but she has one E and one PP. The E is probably similarly sized to mine except female and her PP is pretty small. She's taking them to her school for a few weeks for a HC section, she teaches Kinder, then they're ours. She has them in a 5 gal with sand that's 3x taller than the tallest crab BUT that's only like 3". I'm trying to get her to use the 10gal she has instead.
I was going to have her take the new Mick (a PP) and take her E home to my 40gal but her PP seemed to dislike Mick, flipped him on his back and was standing over him. The PP and E have been living together for at least 3 months and molted recently, nails and hair!
Mick seemlessly blended with our crew. They all checked each other out then went back to their favorite places. I'm not sure where Mick is. Probably hiding or buried destressing.
