ReModel - With a few pix. Comments suggestions welcome

Post by klowns » Mon Apr 20, 2015 3:14 pm

So I redid the tank some added some stuff, moved some stuff. Put in a second level with suction cups and egg crates, still toying with ideas on that. just snapped a quick few. I was up until 6 am this morning working on it, lol. I found a little snake hide/hut at petco (I hate buying stuff from there) it was $20 but I went for it, then found some coco liner pots and then cut it to fit, so they can climb on the inside of it, there's a moss pit in the middle of the wall. one in the right corner. the 2nd level on the left is a shell shop, still got like 30 shells to add. then stuff to climb across. then on the right side 2nd level is just some plastic plants, as well as below it. and then a container with some straight EE in it, with a couple hides so if they want to hide up higher.

What can I fault this?! Hmmm...
IT"S NOT IN MY HOUSE!
It looks awesome, I really like how you set things out. Personally I would move the shells shop to allow easy access into the pools, but it's your tank. :) (Probably because I have big, flabby arms than seem to connect with everything and destroy it.) Words cannot describe how simplistic yet eye-catching (and awesome) this tank is!

yeah was already part of the plan to be, should of done it right off the bat, I put a little ledge on the front so they coudlnt push them off, but i need to put edges around the whole thing, so i can just lift it and slide it over, without them trying to slide off the back or the sides, which is how i designed it, So i can get to the water to change it, (figured since i'd be changing water frequently, why not just put shell shop over it, small bits of sand will just fall into either the needlepoint canvas i attached to understand to egg crate or fall into water, and get dumped with clean) without having to pull the whole thing out, it just slides over to the right and sits on the other stuff, or I'll put a couple more suction cups in the middle so when i slide it, the egg crate sites on that and is fully stable. ok yeah, i'll be doing that i think i figured leaving the middle spot open for food and random maintenance was the best thing to do...I'm pretty pumped about it, i'll be adding and changing more stuff based off of how they take it. I already found my "special strawberry" who i've named Ed. Streaking around the tank this morning, took him a few hours to reshell, I bought him from the part store he was the last straw they had, he's missing 2 legs, and part of 1 leg, and the other legs and pinchers are deformed. so he's a mess. I think he was attacked during last molt before i grabbed him, but I think he'll make it.

This is awesome! Very creative, and I love how you made the most of your space. I always want to add things to my tank, but I can't seem to get them all to fit. Can I ask where you get that cool bridge from? It gives me an idea to try to make one myself, unless I find one for a good price. I like trying to make things for my crabs! But I love your new set up!

Edit: I already found some awesome bridges like yours online, I think I am going to invest in this cool bridge that leads into a hanging coco hut!

Parker that's the exact same bridge/hide i have in there as well, and then if you look at the bought together items there is just the bridge itself http://www.amazon.com/Prevue-Hendryx-62 ... lies_img_y, i got 2 bridges and 1 bridge/coco hut. currently still have an extra bridge i'm not using, until i figure where to put it. but the bridges themselves, are about 15-20 (i just checked one is like 16 and the other is like 19 inches) inches from end to end. but the hut and bridge combo, the bridge is mabybe 8-10 inches plus the coconut on the end. But the bridge/coco hut is legit for sure (might even get another one), there's always 1-4 crabs stuffed in there depending on who is in there, if it's Jim, my jumbo, no one else will go in there, but if its anyone else, everyone piles in. I usually leave a decent size piece of cuttlebone in there too cause it won't go bad and can be left without checking up on, and gives them something to munch on while they're in there.

Just remembered I got these giant cholla pieces that were hiding in my garage. That container in front is about 1 ft long. Probably have to cut them up. I already have cholla I'm not using.Image

and while i love the new crabitat, it's way more boring now, cause i can never see them. I'm sure most are dug down just relaxing and figuring it all out, but i mean come on. lol
