~Surfacing Straws~

Post by marandashermies » Thu Apr 07, 2016 10:33 am

So, I am very excited! My straws are popping up, little by little! So far, they all look really good and seem very healthy and happy. Barry, Bubbles, Barnaby, Banana and Blaze are still down, but the other 5 are up and tank crashing on the daily! They really are very social and hang out together almost all the time. I think they are really enjoying seeing one another again!

Yesterday, I came home from work to my large cholla completely dug up. Hmmm...I wonder who could have done that...Bella!!

Bubba is not a molter, but he is adorable. I love his shell choices. Right now he is in this dolphin carved shell. He always picks something beautiful!

Bubba also really loves the pools

And I can't leave out Boomer, who I recently discovered is a SHE! My most active and funny crab.

I love this pic, queen of the tank!

And just because he is the cutest kitty ever, my little naughty buddy, Luka :D

Hopefully Blaze & Barry pop on up soon. They are due any day now. Barry is actually way over due and I am starting to worry.. Bubbles, Barnaby and Banana all just went down recently so probably end of June before they reappear.

But in the mean time, I am fully enjoying these guys. Day or night they are out and about, getting into trouble together. :smt064

As always, absolutely great pix of your simply gorgeous crabs! Love that first Boomer pic: so detailed that the setae on her legs look like scrub brush bristles  .
PPs are Big Enzo, Charles Paris and Mr Pinch
On the Big Beach in the Sky: Murray, Gino, Oscar, Gordon, Ignatz, Harry and King Felix the Pale
Also Mom to Imogene the Syrian Hamster

Thanks Crabinski, they amaze me more and more each day! It's always an adventure with them:D And yes, Boomey is super hairy, its so cute!
I don't know how I went so long with out them. They all rush to the pools around 8:30pm, its the funniest thing ever. Then the remainder of the night (I go to bed pretty late) all I hear is thunks and clunks. Once in a while I will hear a thunk coming from my tank in my bedroom, and I just giggle. Crabs definitely rule my kingdom, they are everywhere!

Thank you! Image yeah the best part of owning so many tanks/crabs is someone is always clanking around. My straws sleep out in the open most of the time, so I can always observe. Here is boomer as we speak! He has been here all day snoozing ImageImage
Image

But it's also a lot of work! I work full time and have a 6 yr old daughter and every other night, sometimes each night, I have to dedicate a little over an hour for food, water changes and tank maintenance. But they really are worth it ImageImageImage

I have really been enjoying learning about these little guys!! I had an unsuccessful molter my first crab last fall/winter, then my sweet boyfriend bought me Captain Jack!! We are kinda learning together & these creatures are amazing!! We plan to get snuffy for him soon too.

And funny thing too...just saw him out crawling around!! May have had something to do with my adding a new heater within the last hour haha heat he says!

They're adorable. I can't wait until mine are all "grown up" and fancy looking like yours. I've had them for 2 weeks and they'd rather destroy my decorations and knock the moss into the pool than molt. :c
