Adorable! Did you get her through an adoption?

I actually have a friend at a pet store in my area that hates the treatment of hermit crabs in her store. So I go in from time to time and rescue one that needs help, but I think might survive. Peanut is missing part of her little claw, and was desperatly trying to get some moisture by burrowing under the water dish. So She is mine now. Im just hopeing her claw will grow back. She seems like a fighter though.

No worries regarding that damaged little claw: she'll regrow it in her next molt. It may be a bit smaller than normal but will regain normal size in subsequent molts. One of my first crabs, Oscar, was completely missing that little claw and had to feed himself using his BP...poor guy, but it was fascinating to watch how he coped. Next molt, there was a new little pincher and he could eat normally again!

Thats what Im hoping for. As soon as I put him in the carring case I brought. He went right to the straberries and coconut I had in there and ate some. He used a combination of his little claw and big to eat. They definatly are resiliant. Sadly he was the only one that looked like he might survive. It makes me so sad to see the way they are treated sometimes.

:( The pet stores don't even care and want us to buy them! I've been giving my petsmart heck!

My petsmart actually listened to me and changed the set up as much as they could, while still being in the "guidlines" corporate gave them. It is so stupid that they have to listen to corporate. They are a bunch of business men that have no idea what their hermies need care wise.

That is ridiculose. I guess it takes a special team of people to make a change. The people near me seem to seriously care about all their animals.

I honestly feel that only people who truley care about animals should be allowed to be in businness selling animals... It should not be legal to do what they do.
