I've heard of people using burlap before, I'd just make sure it doesn't have chemicals on/in it. Also soaking it in SW would work to clean it before you put it in and that would also work for occasional cleaning. It helps keep mold away from it too.lorderagon wrote:Is burlap ok to use too?

Ok thank you! I bought some help and jute today to crochet the climbing stuff.PinchersAndShells wrote:I've heard of people using burlap before, I'd just make sure it doesn't have chemicals on/in it. We will work on getting the plastic plants. I have seen those second levels and I really dont understand how they work. Do you cut half of the glass out of the bottom or flip it upside done? We have a 5g or 10g tank that we could use for that but idk how its done...soilentgringa wrote:It looks like you're off to a great start!
Keep in mind that crabs are prey animals and need plenty of places to hide so they feel secure in their home.
Plastic plants work well.
They also spend a lot of time climbing trees in the wild so second levels, cholla, oak branches, slabs of bark and other safe untreated woods are great additions to the crabitat!

Second levels needn't be a tank topper. You can create second/third levels using reptile hammocks (http://www.petsmart.com/supplies/habita ... m%3Dsearch), suction-cup soap dishes, shower caddies, kitchen cabinet shelving, etc.lorderagon wrote:We will work on getting the plastic plants.
