Ugh, got a case of Pet Sand.

Post by NovaBelle » Thu Mar 30, 2017 2:05 am

Hi everyone! Relatively new here and to crabbing in general, been getting great advice and wanted to thank y'all for being such an invaluable resource. Shout out to Hermiearth for really helping me out in the first days. I wanted to show off my set up and see some of yours. Haven't seen two of my crabs in weeks (since first rescuing them) and the other two come out only after I've gone to bed,the little buggers. Pet Sand syndrome is strong with this one. Let me see those crabs and tats of yours. Need to see some crabs, I'm having withdrawals.

I'm sure a lot of us can empathize what ur going through, NovaBelle! Lol! But the wait is worth all the excitement when those guys come up from their molts!! So I have a few pics. Normally our guys are in a 55g tat but since we have moved, they are in a temp home of a 20g while their buddies are still molting in the 55g in our old home. So here are the pics from the 55g tat from 3 different views:

Right side

And lengthwise

Here are pics of the 20g temp tank

Hope that helps Image Good luck on those molts!! BTW, we added some isopods to the 55g tank during one of our petsand periods. They help to maintain the tank and can be fun to watch as well;)

Thanks! Still not perfect and needs to be replaced once they all come up surface-side but it's working right now and there are tunnels everywhere!

Walmart may not be my favorite place to shop, but they sure had exactly what I was looking for. It's fun to watch my crabs hang upside down from the shelves.

Kermie16, loving your tat. Can't wait to get a huge 40+ gallon of my own once I move into a house.
