What is Bonnie?

Hello all.

I have a question, if I remember correctly when I got Bonnie in 2015 the store had her and Clyde (Unfortunately he passed in '15) labeled as Ruggies. She for the most part has maintained a very peach/cream color over her last couple of molts and her orangeish antenna stalks. I was hoping someone could confirm if she is indeed a Ruggie or if she is an Ecuadorian.

She's beautiful!
But I wouldn't know what to label her as. I know someone else will know...

Based on shell selection, this could be a ruggie. However, they are hard to come by in the US. So this could also be an Ecuadorian. Hopefully a more experienced crabber will chime in.

you don't suppose that there could be a small chance of her being a C. Scaevola do you

I agree~ does look like C. Scaevola! Neither Ruggie or Eccie with the antennae color.

Wow! Definitely looks like C. Scaevola. I've never heard of these crabs so I too had to look them up.

I'm located in Ohio. Sadly I have no pictures of Clyde but he looked like a stockier version of Bonnie. I also have a small steel blue/grey colored crab named Casper who has the same orange antenna. Sorry that the images are blurry, my phone camera last year was not that great.

That grey kind of colouring suggests to me that he is a ruggie however, he could also possibly be a young Japanese blueberry (c.purpureus) because their flesh u ded the Exo is normally a yellow or orange colour
