Looks great... however it's a bit hard to make out but how deep is your substrate? Looks rather low. Also you might want to upgrade your water bowls so they are deeper to encourage bathing.

The substrate is currently at 4 " from the bottom. I am looking in to getting more but funds ran dry due to unexpected bills. The water bowls that I am using are also just temporary untill I can get Tupperware bowls set up. I used to have a set, but they were unfortunately thrown away by my wife while I was doing a deep clean.

Ok so after seeong everyones new set ups and changes, I decided to do a lottle work my self. Deepwe water bowls, deeper substrate, moss pit, digital hydrometer, hemp corner net, and a few other small changes. Good news is that the humidity is staying up, but I still need to get a heater. Any other suggestions?Image

Looking good! I like it!!! You've done a lot of work there - I bet the crabs are loving it!

You've pretty much thought of everything I would have suggested. Only thing I don't see (maybe you have it and I just can tell because of the angle of the picture) is a way for the crabs to get in and out of the water pools and moss pit safely. Moss pit, they can probably manage if you've got the substrate & moss height about the same (and they're not going to drown in a poss pit), but for the water pools, might want to add some craft mesh held in place w/zip ties, or aquarium plants or rocks they can climb to get out. If you could pretend that I have real stackable tupperware and not just cutoff cottage cheese containers, here's an example of what I'm talking about with the craft mesh: http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... 8&t=114062

Little ramps made out a thermo plastic (mold and heat). It has a texture side so they can get a grip on it. I have already caught 2 of them in the pools.Image

Awesome! Looks great! Do you have a link for that thermoset plastic sheet? I might like to try it out.

Looks fantastic! For a heater I recommend an ultra Therm from reptilebasics.com, insulated (taped over and into tank) with reflectix tape (can be bought on amazon.

You've done a great job!! Looks like u have a lot of the bases covered and I like the shell shack /second level! If u r looking to add more activities for the hermies, u can look into a modified hamster wheel or even just some fish netting from the local craft store:)

I tried the fish netting in my topper tank. My crabs keep getting stuck in it. It got so bad the other night, I had to cut one out... I've always used hemp nets from hermie fun store (linked in shopping resources) in my other tanks and never had this problem. I will NEVER make the mistake of buying fish netting again.

I have a fish net as a ladder into my shell shop, I have not had any problems with crabs getting stuck in it, but The holes are big.
