HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I changed things up a little and you guys are the only ones I can share it with that care. My bf pretends, bless his heart, but he doesn't get it like we do! Lol.

Since it's been getting colder, my humidity has been dropping faster than before so I added a brick of eco earth to hopefully help a little.



I also decommissioned the big shell shop and turned it into another moss pit because the suction cups kept failing. Now it's up in the topper resting on the overflow box thing (my tank used to be a saltwater fish tank). Still haven't decided if I'll just keep the shells on the sub or if I'll try a new shop.



And then I also wanted to share how cool this piece of grape wood is. I've had it for a while but haven't really highlighted it before. It's hollow so the little crabs like to climb/hide in it and then, up at the top, it has made an excellent little platform for them to hangout.

I redid mine yesterday, but mine is smaller than yours.

How deep is the saltwater dish/pool? I like to compare mine with other people’s crabitats.

Thank you guys! I think I want to add one more branch in there but I'm waiting to find the perfect one. It's fun to move things around, even if it's minor. It made me realize that my isopods are thriving too cuz I saw what felt like a million babies lol.

About my water dishes...They're Pyrex and I think they're a quart? I can't remember exactly. It takes 1.5 water bottles each to fill them up, if that helps. I think I'll change them out eventually so I can do the double bowl method but not for a while since these are doing the trick for now.

Love it!! Fantastic job!! I love all of the climbing areas and hideouts. I also had to recently add some more EE to boost the humidity! It’s done wonders I like how you have the smaller tank on top. I’m waiting for some aquarium silicone to come so I can do the same with our 20 g on top of our 55 g. Can I ask how you have yours stabilized? I know some have used 3M Velcro strips, duck tape, etc. I’m curious so I can try to plan ours out for the near future. Thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you! The topper really adds so much climbing space for them. It took them a while to figure it out but now they spend a lot of time up there.
It's just duck tape on the outside on the seam of the two tanks on two sides (the left most side and the front). The weight of the top tank does most of the work but I just wanted a little extra piece of mind.
