Gearing up for new 29G

Hoping to get the sand in soon so I can decorate! I am waiting for a day where I feel up to it and my hubby is home to do the lifting. I figure about 150lbs of sand that will need to be mixed outside first. (My lungs and silica dust are enemies and I would like to avoid the ER this time.) With luck we'll get to it by the end of the weekend.
In the meantime, I still think it is pretty even though it is empty.
I do have to brag about the stand for a minute - I custom mixed the color using canned Rustoleum, and I think it came out perfect. I want to repaint all my furniture with it.

Very cool! I wish I had painted my stand before putting the crabs in.

The stand looked horrible before. It's the one from my old fiddler tank, though the aquarium is new because that old one was a pitted mess. (I'll use it for scorpions once we move.) It was originally pine when we bought it used, but it looked so crappy I had painted it dark brown and had to flip it upside down for an even edge to hold water. This time we took off the molding we had added and flipped it rightside up again. The cats used to hang on the edge to chase the guppies and scratched the heck out of the wood, so I patched and hubby lightly sanded to get it looking nice again.
We got the sand in tonight. Will need to air it out a bit to remove some moisture (whoops), then comes the decorating! I have a pile of stuff ready to go in.

Here's my stand. Not bad but doesn't go with my decor.

Whoo, that is a blast from the past! Early 80's?
Mine looked like that but was shellacked so it was a bit newer. It is solid wood, none of this pressed MDF junk that the newer stands are made from. My poor 20 gallon aquarium stand is slowly crumbling apart!

Lol. I have no idea. It came with the tank. It is pretty nice. I wish the doors had wider openings.

Speaking of stands, I cannot say I have a historic wooden one with good character. I currently have my 55 on a Brooklyn steel stand.
It holds up just fine and matches the tank very well.

I love the teal color!! It’s my fave and I’ve painted my night stands in something similar. This is my stand (29g as well). I bought it off Craigslist and painted/ distressed it. It was this ugly cream color with brown knobs and top. Now looking at this picture I’m wondering how the little legs haven’t given out. I have 50 pounds of sand and an unmeasured amount of eco earth in there lol.

I love the storage of this thing!
