Do All Hermit Crab Shells Come From Snails?
I was wondering, do all hermit crab shells originally come from snails?? I mean, some hermies are pretty big, that would have to have been a huge snail to get a shell that large!! And I don't know about you, but I would be pretty scared to see a snail that big!

Something lived in the shell before, and made the shell. Turbos are a kind of sea snail that can get pretty big, judging from the turbo shells I've seen. I don't know what kind of animal makes tonnas or some of the other shells, but I would venture to guess that most of them are snails.

Conchs are snails as well. Yep, the shells hermies use come from a type of snail.

Here's a pic of a Tonna snail:http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/8451/foto45.gifa conch snail:http://ccue.net/viethome/siteb...tures/ ... ll3.jpgone that's looking out of its shell:http://www.deepseaimages.com/dsilibrary ... m&cat=635a moon snailhttp://vdmdiveclub.org/PhGeeks/MWalker/moonsnl.jpgand some more snails http://www.deepseaimages.com/dsilibrary ... &sort=1The only shell that's not from a snail is the nautilus (although I have never seen a crab in one of these).
