Getting your tummy flat after having kids

Post by Nicole » Tue Sep 27, 2005 3:31 pm

Samantha1978, let me know how those tapes go. I don't think I could do them with anyone else around, LOL, but they sound fun. Jessie4crabs, I have never bought size 0 anything, not even in high school. You were super skinny! It does bother me about the shirts being cut so high. It seems like everyone is showing off their tummies lately, and not just teenagers. It's hardest for me to see other moms with those shirts on, knowing we were all in the same boat at one time. jojo7, I didn't have C-sections, and I remember the doctor telling me (after my first son) that in a couple of months, with exercise, my belly would flatten out. All I have to say is, HA! He lied to me. And yes, I know a woman at the gym who had three C-sections whose belly is as flat as can be. Wow, I do sound really negative, LOL. Do they do group rates on tummy tucks?

Personally, I prefer the denial strategy. I just refuse to look in the mirror! After my first baby, I was back in my size 5's within a few months. After my second (and last) I can't even fit into my 7's.

I hear you all ladies! I have never had a flat stomach, even when I was a teenager and was 5'6 and 115 lbs! When I was pregnant with my dd, I gained about 70 lbs and was up to 200 lbs!UGH! Within 4 months of her birth and was back down to 130, but still did not have a totally flat stomach, although my stomach was more like a change purse then a huge pouch!LOL My dd is now 4 and I've slowly gained weight. I hate it! My dd said to me the other day, "Mommy you are fat" and I said, "honey, that's not nice to call people fat" and so she said, "Well, you are not fat then, BUT YOUR STOMACH IS!"--Thank you! My dr. told me when I was about 13 pretty much the same thing that the pp posted. Some people are just not meant to have flat stomachs. I really need to lose weight though. Don't you ever wonder how you gain weight when it feels like all your doing is chasing after your kids all day and cleaning??? It's not fair!!LOL

I hate the giant mirrors in my aerobics class. Ugh. And it's worse when you stand next to someone that looks like they don't need to be there, and you look in the mirrors and see yourself standing next to them. Always a good pick-me-up.

I'm ticked at myself because I too used to be a size 0...but that was pre-kids. Just 2 short years ago I had a lot of stress in my life and was back down to a 4-5, but I'm afraid when the stress went away so did my svelte figure. I feel like a heifer and I hate my belly, my butt, my everything. I'm not huge but I'm not small either. I just feel lumpy and dumpy. I need someone to come over here every day and kick me into action, jogging and not eating and all that. If any of you find the secret before then, let me know.

Ah! I'm 21, with no kids, and I *still* have a belly! :::grrrr::: I wish there was something else to blame for it than me! lolTummy tuck...probably not a good idea for must of us (Keep in mind I'm a nursing student and I'm using facts guys )unless you were morbidly obese then dropped a significant amount of wieght naturally or via surgery- most people are going to gain that fat back around their midsection, unless of course, there are some MAJOR lifestyle changes made. not to say that surgery is bad or anything, but its a lot of money to spend and discomfort to go through to gain most of your tummy back within a few months of surgery. For anyone who is queesy- I would suggest you watch a liposuction or an autopsy-that will cure any food issues or excercise issues you have Too bad I'm not queesy. I struggle like heck! Except mine is due to a slowed metabolism due to medication that I HAVE to be on, FOREVER!I try to eat right and excercise, and I was doing pretty good- I got down to 153 and was looking pretty trim. Nursing school and work is literally taking up all of my time so I can usually go to the gym only once a week and I'm up to 160- which makes a big difference when you're 5'5. :::sigh:::

I feel the same way emmabemmainc!!..I do more running around now with my 3 kids than i did in my whole life!!..you'd think i would weigh 100 lbs!!But i think its because we dont take care of ourselves...the key is too actually sit down and eat a meal!!...i never sit down to eat a meal, with the exception of dinner...but even thats rushed because i'm usually catching the food that the baby is flinging across the room! I dont eat 3 meals a day either...i eat my first meal around 1 p.m. when the baby is napping and i can finally sit down for a minute...but at that point, i can eat a horse because i've gone the whole day without eating!!...so i choose the wrong foods...so you ask, why not do something about it???...well, thats a good question...i dont enjoy being this weight, i feel very unhealthy!...but everything else seems to be a priority...my hubby and i have a famous saying and it starts out like this: "When the kids get older, then we can...."ex: loose weight, clean the basement, catch up on laundry for once, clean out the garage, paint the house, go out for dinner together, maybe see a movie, and last but not least, sit down in peace and eat a meal!!!o.k. i'm done with my housewife complaints..
