Google to offer paid subscription Add free version of Youtube.

Post by Crabber85 » Mon Mar 02, 2015 7:36 am

I just found about this a few days ago and at first I wasn't too upset about because I use a really good add-blocker for Mozilla Fire-Fox called Blue-**** add blocker it also doubles as a soft firewall in addition to blocking those unwanted and pesky adds that you see from Face Book, My Space, Youtube as well as many other streaming services so like I said I wasn't overly concerned at the time. But some new info has come out about the new paid subscription version of Youtube and basically Google has decided that too many of us have been using add-blockers so the adds that they insert at the beginning and sometimes middle of the videos weren't getting played and so weren't generating them any revenue.Youtube has a total subscriber base in excess of 1 million people but they have not posted any kind of positive earnings since Google bought them a couple of years ago, so Google being the greedy bunch they are were like hey with that number of people using our newly acquired service we should be generating thousands of dollars in add revenue daily but we aren't so what we'll do since the subscribers clearly don't want the annoying adds is we will offer an add free paid subscription version of the service and we will offer additional incentives for those who switch to our paid service.Essentially Google will be taking away a lot of our content like whole channels, the HD option for video streaming quality and free item give aways and much much more. This means for those of us who just stick to using our add blockers we will only get the bare bones experience, low video streaming quality, the loss of some of the channels we are currently subscribed to and likely have more content taken away from us as time progresses.Back in the 90's when Youtube first surfaced on the internet it was all about the viewer and the content creators, people didn't start Youtube channels as a way to get famous, the You in Youtube actually meant something, sure the content coming out was mostly from a small handful of creators and that was mostly about video games but the service has gone corporate and has lost that personal feel and now they are completely destroying the service.

@dawson, yeah but "they" the corporations keep doing this with everything online and eventually you wont even be able to use this service without having to pay a subscription fee or get inundated with lots of annoying adds, banners and pesky little pop-ups.Pop-ups and scrolling banners are the bane of my existence because hackers use them as means to deliver black hole exploits and Trojan droppers not to mention XSS(Cross Site Scripting) injections where they intercept your data and then send it to a completely different website this is a very common method of stealing banking info and opening up phony bank accounts and running up credit card debt ruining your credit and your life.
