Just saw the Hobbit part 1.

I went into thinking that it wasn't going to be as good as the book but so far Peter Jackson has continued to surprise me because the movie was fantastic.lolI really enjoyed it because I could quote the lines from the book during the part of the movie that it matched up to and it actually match. I can't wait for the second part due out at the end of the year The Desolation of Smaug looks to be just as good as An Unexpected Journey.

Yeah, it was a great movie. The only thing that I can remember not matching is the troll scene.

@Jimmy, yeah they did deviate from the book on the troll scene but that was because of time constrant so I let it slide.lol

I loved it too. I got the DVD yesterday as well.I did want it to be just like the book, but the places where they changed it DID make the story go better on-screen while still keeping most of the original storyline.

@Theodora, I highly recommend reading the book first if you haven't already as it will help exlpain things better that get passed over in the movie.The movie has a lot of fantasy violence in it but no more than any of the Lord of The Rings movies so I don't see where you shouldn't be able to watch it, however this is a decision that is completely up to your parents unfortunately.

@Theodora, my parents were never that strict with me growing up the only movies I was never allowed to watch were rated R for obvious reasons.lolMy parents were of the mindset that you shouldn't shield your children from everything as that only serves to hinder emmotional growth and makes for adults who can't cope with the real world.Of course I was sheltered from graphic violence and other types of adult themes as a child but when I turned sixteen my dad would allow me to watch R rated movies with his supervision as he knew where to mute the audio for curse words and where to fast forward in the case of love scenes which drastically reduced the rating from R to PG13.When I turned seventeen I was allowed to watch rated R movies on my own that were only rated R for the blood and gore violence and had no cursing or other types of adult themes.At eight-teen I was given free reign to pick my own movies as long as they were not ****ographic in nature or had nudity in them which I was fine with because the only movies I like that are rated R are war flicks like Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers, Tears of The Sun, Rambo, Sniper and so on.lolI now own only two rated R movies out of fifty and the rest are G, PG and PG13 because I just don't care for excessively violent movies now that I'm older.I've been able to read the books of my choosing since elementary school number one because I've had a college reading level since I was six and because I've always loved big novels like Dune, LOTR aka The Lord Of The Rings, The Chronicles of Drizzet and so on and nothing was ever said to me because my parents loved that I had such a strong passion for reading at such a young age. I can understand why your parents want to be so over protective of you and I applaude them for that it's commendable it really is but there is a fine line between protective and smothering and it seems like your suffocating.

Woah! I am fine but there is a few movies I want to watch that I cant I would appreciate a tiny bit more freedom but I guess I will get that when I turn 13. Its not really the problem of what I CANT watch its what I CAN. I mean like the movies I LOVE we cant find online (Netflix) and the stuff that I DO NOT want to watch is on there! Like barney and such! LOL. I will survive. I wish I could find movies I do want to watch more often though. Like the Guardians of Ga'hoole for instance. I will watch movies I want to when I am older I guess.
