1.I have had some of my crabs since 2008 and the reset were purchased in 09' and 10'.2.I don't sit and wait anymore as I've had mine so long that I don't really stress or worry over them anymore.3.I don't spend per month anymore instead I do the cheaper thing and purchase in bulk so that I have enough to last me at least six months minimum.4.I have nine hermitcrabs in a 129gallon long aquarium.5.Yes I have an Iso tank ready to go at all times it's a ten gallon which I keep substrate in as well as food and water dishes though I need to get a new uth pad for it.6.I never started off with a KK and gravel kit because they didn't exist way back when I first got started in 92' so all I had was a wire cage a bowl with a sponge in it and a food bowl.7.I never have an empty tank because I always have three or more hermitcrabs up and about at any given time.8.I get my substrate from Home-depot, my decor from various shops in two states and my shells from three different gift shops while at the beach for vacation, the food comes from my local grocery store and from my local pet stores.9.Daily I change out food and mist if need be, I change out the waters every three days or so.10.24hrs it all it took to get the temp and humidity right on my 129gallon when I first set it up.11.I keep them in my room and they get seen at least twenty times a day in that location but mostly by me.lol

As of now my humidity is at a stable 79% and temputure with a little bounce at 76-79 cool side and 80-85 on warm side. Cooler at night with warm side about 79-82 and cool side at 74-77 im super happy about that.

I've been keeping hermitcrabs since 2009 although none of my originals are with me today because of newbie mistakes.I've only done it once because I have only seen it once. LolOh gosh. I spend a lot of money on my crabs. I couldn't say how much a month but it is quite a bit.I have a forty gallon tank with eight crabs. Six are PPs and two Es.I always have a ten gallon ISO in reserve. It took two years for me to get rid of my wire cage. After that I improperly set up a twenty gallon tank which I had for awhile.I've never had an empty tank before so I can not say.I get shells from Deltona Shells and Gifts and from Micheals. I get plants from Micheals and Petco. Sand comes from Home Depot and the EE comes from Petco.I mist the tank daily and feed them every other day. I clean the bowls when they get dirty. The temp and humidity evened out in less than a day.The crabs are in my room and get looked at a lot by me.

1-I got my first three (Fred, George & Ginny) in 2009, or I should say my younger daughter did. We got them from a friend whose children had lost interest, they were not ever visible. They were in a house that was too cold in a 5 gallon with a mesh lid and a lamp, nothing to keep humidity. No heat source other than the 60 watt bulb. They did have good substrate and fairly deep. My friend said the only time she saw them was when they dumped water into the tank on the sub. We adopted several more times and I purchased a bunch. The adoptions were great but the purchased ones died for the most part (out of 14, 2 remain), I just bought two Es two weeks ago, they are under, I hope they'll make it. Our most recent adoption was in December 2012, 4 BIG guys (Pan, Beast, Belle & Wendy) and 1 E (Tink). They are all fabulous!2-Absolutely! That's how Burton got his nickname, Kraken. He's in a murex shell and it was impressive watching him emerge from the sub.3-I don't want to know....4-I have a 40 gallon with 8 tiny to small crabs, a 30 with 6 med to large crabs, two ISOs one with two tiny Es, a 55 in the garage waiting to replace the 30 at the next deep clean.5-I have both ISOs in the house with substrate ready to go and dishes, etc. only one usually is really ready complete with heat going, etc. this way when George does his best to scare years off my life, I'm prepared....why is it always George?!6-I never had a KK or gravel. I did have a 5 gallon tank full of calcisand, sometimes purple or teal even. Mostly it was white though, the colors caused pools of water. I also used to dig them up regularly so I could turn the sand and I changed it every other week, I was worried it would mold, I could smell it. Don't know if that was good or bad considering they were in calcisand. It is nothing short of a miracle they survived first my friend's house then mine.7-I don't enjoy empty tanks. The only one that is empty is the ISO with the little Es in it. I've not had an empty tank in a long time, usually someone is up and moving. I worry about them when they are down. I miss them.8-My favorite for food is The Hermit Crab Patch and Whole Foods, I just placed my first order with the hermit crab addiction store. For sub, sand at Home Depot and EE at Petco or Amazon. Toys and shells have been mostly acquired with adoptions, I bought some really big shells from THCP for the big guys.9-I greet them every morning and check their gauges. I feed them every evening and check their gauges. Two to four times a week depending on how messy they've been, I change out their waters. I clean the sub every 1-2 weeks, every month to six weeks I pull everything out except the sub and wash it down really well and rearrange, often boiling the things that can boil and baking the wood. I also have enough duplicates of things that they can be replaced when the wood gets too wet or the shells are dirty or just boring. About every six months I replace everything. I have OCD though so this all may not necessarily be what the crabs need.10-A day maybe two. I've got a pretty good handle on it. We'll see what happens with the 55 though.11-The 40 is in the living room, the 30 is in the kitchen, they are one big room divided by a half wall. They are part of the family activity but we are a pretty quiet bunch. The ISO is in the living room too, it's usually close to my chair so I can monitor that more closely. They all get a little too much attention from the cats who think the top of the hermit crab tank with the warm lights overhead is THE place to be.Peg
