Kids say the funniest things...

Post by breezeetew » Fri Sep 08, 2006 12:26 pm

My kids get the truth when they ask.My youngest son asked when he was 4-5 and stepson was in the car and at age 9 he didn't know, so I told them both.I asked stepson how he thought babies got there, he said "love". All I could tell him was if babies are lucky they are loved when they get here, but it takes something else to get them here and then I told them both.Oh, at this time stepson's mother was pregnant...
I have had hermit crabs for a couple of years and still have most of my originals. I joined LHC over a year ago and have learned a lot about crab care there. I have about 50 crabs (PP, Straw and E) in my 130 gallon tank that is a feature point of my living room.
Mother of 4 humans, one canine, 3 felines and many aquarium dwellers.

Well, there has never been a stork story here in our house...My oldest has seen me pregnant two times since his own birth...and both times we just say that we pray to Jesus for a healthy baby, and nothing more...there's never been any questions to how they get there in the first place...lol...My oldest was the one that said he and his brothers were angels waiting to come into my belly (which i agree with him on that note)...but as far as having that "talk," i dont think kids at his age need details...i always felt the simplier i keep it the better they understand and thats with most things...i remember as a kid my Mom telling me things that were way too detailed and being so impressed and not to mention "moritified" and the thought of what she had told me...and i'm not talking the "The birds & the bees" talk either...We will have a talk with my oldest soon and answer any questions he has...we'll just keep the answers simple and on his level and terms...wish me luck!!

I always answer what is asked, but at that time, I thought stepson's mother was shirking her duty as custodial parent, so I did it.I think that a 9 year old that claims to have a girlfriend and he kisses her ought to have more supervision, but since that wasn't going to happen, I gave him information. It is always kept simple with a chance to ask more questions, but my kids are prepared with real information, not fairy tales. The really bad part of stepson't mother's fairy tales was that she led him to believe that because his mother got pregnant with him that meant that his parents were in love. What else can you draw from that? you can do whatever you want because you only get pregnant by being in love? I think 9 is a little late to get the truth. And I only gave him the part about how babies get in the tummy....

My 3 year old son believes that he's pregnate too so I asked him how his baby is going to come out and he pointed to his belly button! So cute!!! My almost 5 year old is obbsessed with super man right now And I put his cool superman shirt(compleat with cape) in the wash and he told me his eyes where wet and he has water on them (his way of telling me he's crying) He's finally speaking better, telling stories and useing sentences! Now I can acually talk to him! Like today when he couldn't find the cat he said "Morimoto's at the outside park digging oil and eating one mouse"

Here's a couple of Jems from my kids:When my son was born my daughter was 21/2, she learned at that tender age that girls and boys were different ....boys have weenies and girls have privates in our house.I took the baby in for a well child check...picture a laid back doctor wearing scrubs leaning back in his chair when my 2 yo comes out with:'mommy does Doctor Durmon have a weenie?'Believing in honesty I said yes Dr Durmon has a weenie. Then she comes out with:Does Dr Durmon have a big weenie or a little weenie? The doctor and I are laughing by now, and I tell her that Dr Durmon will have to answer that question for you.He shakes his head and says "I feel so sorry for you".Here's another:I was getting ready for a shower and my 4yo son was coming in with me (I never get to do anything alone any more) as I am undressing he points to my 'privates' and asks 'mommy why do you have feathers down there?'And another:My son age 5 thought he had babies and pregnancy all figured out. He had seen my c section scar and knew that's how he got out, so driving in the car one day he says:'Mommy they got me out through a hole in your tummy' I said yes, then he asks if they got Hannah out through a hole in my tummy too... I said no. As I look in my rear view mirror I see his eyes getting really big and he says ...'wow mommy you must have had to open your mouth really wide to get Hannah out.'

My son is 5 and I like to push his cuticles back and I know that can be an uncomfortable feeling but I said I would be quick..anyway, after I had finished with his left hand and was moving onto his right hand he said "Mom, I don't want you to push my tentacles back" I thought that was so cute...

This could go on forever... Well when we bought my oldest a superman shirt compleat with cape he kept asking to buy Tinkerbell, I didn't get it until he said he needs the pixie dust so he can fly like superman! Atleast he knows he can't fly on his own....

It's so cute and funny when kids rename things when they can't pronounce them properly. I have no idea where or how he came up with it, but when I was about 13 one of my cousins was 2. He couldn't say my name so called me, Nettely. His mother began calling me that and still does. I can't remember the last time she called me by my name. One of my boys called our dog, Foxie, Fofix. Pelicans were peclins, caterpillars, pattakillers. Hehehe.
