Hmm...I'd have to figure out how to rig some sort of robot to give a visual inspection, also. Boy, we work this just right, it'll be like not having any pets at all!

Kitty - how funny! I also didn't "own" any of their stuff until my 30's! I love "No Sleep 'til Brooklyn." to keep me going when I'm on a long drive or up late. My kids told someone at church that they got me the Beastie Boys for mother's day, and she couldn't even parse the sentence; she just nodded and said "OooKay", and I was like "Time to go, kids!" LOLPharfly - Even if the neighbors think we should be all "Better Homes and Gardens", social services recognizes how life really is. My daughter got lead poisoning and some inspectors came in to find the lead; I was a wreck, worrying about every little thing, but they were very cool.

YES! Of course it depends which end you are looking at. If they are walking away from you they look like zebras.Jed, how often do you have sleep paralysis? I have had that and it scares the blank out of me. I had it twice as a teenager and had no idea what it was. It wasn't until like a decade later I overheard pyscology students in the student lounge at my university talking about it that I figured out that it was just freak thing that occurred to me. Then it happened a few more times. Yikes! Last year I had a student who suffered from it and believed it was the spirit of an old woman sitting on her chest. Apparently that's on old wives tale or something. Anyway, since reading your post made me think about it and guess what? It happened to me last night. Freaky. Like my own brain wants to torture me. I didn't freak out though. I just thought, "Oh it's that stupid thing again. I'm going back to sleep until it's over." ANd I did. If only I knew that would work for me I wouldn't be so afraid to sleep.

My sister gets it from time to time, and so does my stepdad. I think they've gotten used to it. I've never woken up with that, but then the control that's supposed to keep me from moving around isn't super strong. I sleep talk a lot (I actually woke up a week ago and found myself in a convo with my brother. Apparently, I asked him what time it was and he told me, and I told him "I'm up, I'm up." Then apparently he told me that I should probably get started on my sister's birthday cake. At this point, I woke up in the middle of hearing myself say "I don't think we have eggs. I need eggs to make the cake.") I've also sleep walked once or twice, but that was a long time ago. I toss and turn a lot and sleep in weird positions. I woke up at some point this morning, but I was still dreaming. I was convinced I had dropped something on my curtains (like beads or something) and was very frustrated when I couldn't find them on the curtains to pick them off.

I've had dreams like that. I spend the whole day feeling a loss bc I can't find what I dreamt about.

I've had it very frequently when I lived in a student's dorm a few years ago, about once or twice a week. Since I moved out, it happens only about once a month or so, I don't know why it got less. It's weird - of course I know what happenens and I'm just irritated (aarr - not again!) and know exactly what to do to snap out of it. But at the same time I'm scared, because i always have the very strong feeling that there is someone in the room with me, watching me. A few times I even heard voices speaking in a language I couldn't understand. Carl Sagan once wrote that sleep paralysis could be responsible for a lot of cases of "alien abduction" and I'm pretty sure he's right. The feeling is very strong, it seems to come from a certain point in the room and you just know that whatever is in the room with you doesn't just want to give you a hug and a hot cocoa... To get out of it, it's enough to blink a few times or to jerk, like you sometimes do when you fall asleep (another weird sleep phenomenon).

Well, yeah, I had to sleep in my flatmate's room because we both were so scared. For two nights. Argh. But great movie nonetheless.

The first time it happened to me I feel asleep ona friend's couch while she was vacuuming. When I "woke" up, she was still vacuuming and there were other people in the room who weren't there before and they were all chatting. I couldn't understand what they were saying but I don't thnk I cared bc I was too busy panicking. When I finally woke up for real, there were people in the apartment who weren't there when I fell asleep. The scond time it happened I was napping next to my boyfriend. For a long time afterward I felt a lot of resentment towards him bc I was trapped and he couldn't help me. I knew it wasn't logical but I still felt he let me down in the bero department. Both times it happened during the day so I refused to take naps for a long, long time thinking that was the cause.BTW, don't feel bad for the boyfriend. He later stole my parrot and sold it.

1. The time I wake up varies from day to day. If I have to open at work then I get up at 3am. On my days off I've been known to sleep until noon or later.2. I love horror movies and indy films the most.3. I loved Tom and Jerry and The Roadrunner Show.4. I wish I had the power to go invisible.5. I love Borsch, I love Ethiopian food, Love Sushi, Heck..I love all food.6. I wish I could have a bengal kitten. Maybe one day when the circumstances are right it'll happen.7. I wish I could play the guitar and the piano. I love listening to my boyfriend jam on his guitars.8. I like the age I am right now (36) but I would love to have the knowledge I've been gifted with at this time in my life and maybe be 25 again.9. Cats, hands down. 10. When I was born I had to have surgery to remove a small tumor attached to my bottom. It was about the size of a large orange/small grapefruit and along with the tumor they removed my tailbone. The tumor is known as a Sacrococcygeal Teratoma (SCT) and contained amniotic fluid, hair and teeth. Ewwww, I know. I was in the hospital for 5 weeks and the scars are huge. I even have a 3 inch scar on the inside of my right ankle from where they sewed in the IV.I also have slight anxiety when it comes to time. I don't like being late for anything and having to wait for someone makes me extremely anxious. I tend to be quite obsessive compulsive at work as well and am constantly cleaning/organizing everything.
