I just got back from the bookstore. I bought Jane Eyre and Harry Potter. I'm so mad! I have to read a romance story before I can read Harry Potter . The Count Of Monte Cristo was a romance story too. I read one chapter of Jane Eyre so far, and it doesn't seem very hard to read. It doesn't have french words like monsieur, mademoiselle, Au revoir, etc. like the Count of Monte Cristo did. By the way, was the ending to Harry Potter depressing?

The very ending? No. That had a glimpse of hope. As long as there's hope...well, let's just say hope is good. Hopefully, Potter will inspire you to get through Jane Eyre quickly. Oh and the book I'm reading is Color of Magic. Cosmochelonians, psychic clams--this guy is great!

Hehehe, yeppers. I especially like book number 3, which is Equal Rites. Reaper Man is awesome too. 'Course Death is my favorite character, so I might be a wee bit biased.

Well, I bought the second one today. No big deal really except that I'm broke and shouldn't have bought anything non-essential. PLus the fact that I bought $60 worth of books acouple of days ago and haven't finished reading all of those yet. PLUs, I still have a couple from the trip before that (last week) that I'm still reading. But I really wanted it.Only too bad for me because after I bought it I went to fetch my kid from the kid's section and found the sequel to the other book I've been looking for. (I looked and looked the other day and couldn't find it anywhere and only bought the Discworld one because I didn't think they had it. Argh!) ANyway, I didn't have enough money to get that one too and not I can't stop obsessing about it. I guess I'm obsessive.

I reread Monstrous Regiment and Going Postal last night. Still getting goofy grins at random moments.

I have the feeling that Prachett will be a strange yet frequent bedfellow. I just hope he doesn't snore.

Loudly. And just TRY to make her be any quieter about it.. *snicker* Go on, I dare you... *hides behind the nearest handy mountain, then reconsiders and moves even further away* Bout like calling the Librarian that M-word.

I've not yet read the new HP book. I've been rereading all the previous ones to refresh my memory for the new one. I'm currently near the end of Goblet of Fire. I don't have a lot of time to read so it doesn't go fast.I like the Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon, as well as Edward Gorey's stuff. Asprin's series are light and amusing. But for laugh out-loud funny, I'd recommend Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. The first is _One for the Money_ and the others are all numbered. Another book that I reread whenever I need a pickmeup is _The Secret Life Of Eva Hathaway_ by Janice Webber. It's out of print, but you can find it on Amazon super cheap. The story is kind of sad, but the language always cracks me up.If you are interested in romance books, I like all of LaVyrle Spencer's books.Kitty, are you feeling better? When I read the Fionavar Tapestry books by Guy Gavriel Kay (before I read Lord Of the Rings) I got really attached to the characters. When one of them was killed off in the third book, I was reading it during lunch. I bawled and bawled. But it was time to go back to work. Everyone who saw me asked with concern what was wrong, and I would say that a character in the book I was reading just died. They scoffed at me. I don't think I've ever gotten so attached to any character since. Is this good or bad? Hard to say.

I'm not sure whether those books have been mentioned before, but I enjoyed reading the Darren Shan series (vampires) and Artemis Fowl. And "Set this House in Order" by Matt Ruff (I think I recommended that one, but anyway - it's so good). "G.A.S." by the same author is just hilarious and totally weird.

Read something by Anne Rice! Yes its true her books are very depressing but the thing of it is you feel better because you know you could never have it as bad as her characters. I mean unless you are a vampire also,......LOL. These are the books that made me want to be a vampire. sssssss

I picked up a copy of the Chronicles of Narnia today, going to reread that. It's been I don't know how many years since I read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.I like Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Her other series... well, some of them are all right, but I'm not really a big fan of the Mayfield Witches. Some of her stand alones, like Ramses the ****ed are excellent tho. And, of course, there's the series she wrote under the pseudonym A. N. Roquelaure for the *really* adventurous. A warning, the books she wrote under that pseudonym are NOT suitable for children.

I actually read a LOT. I'm a member of BookCrossinghttp://bookcrossing.com/friend/candiebIt's free, just an awesome way to track where your books go if you like to give them away to others to read or whatever.I'm also a member of Paperback Swaphttp://www.paperbackswap.com/index.php?r_by=ca ... r.comWhich is great because you list your books to mail to other people and get credits every time you send a book to someone (usually costs $1.42 media mail - a lot cheaper than buying them new!). I think you list 11 books and get 3 free credits to start.I just finished B@stard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison and am reading Cold Fire by Dean Koontz at the moment. My Top 3 books I've read this year have been:1. The Time Traveler's Wife2. the curious incident of the dog in the nite-time3. The Lovely Bones
