What is your favorite type of dog?

do ya'll have a favorite dog? well i can tell you one thing what ever yours is basset hounds are much better! they are so cute and pretty and wonderful and all the other stink! lol! don't take this seriosly, it's just a joke! but what is your favorite dog? i would like to know!

I have 2 dogs my mutt "jake" and my 6 month old brittny spainal "rusty" i've had all kinds of dogs but the best by far is my mutt

I'm more of a cat person, but if I had to choose, give me a yellow Lab any day! We just adopted a yellow Lab mix from the pound and she's WONDERFUL. We've only had her for a week but so far so good, she's potty trained, and is learning all her obedience commands beautifully. Here's her pic:http://home.mchsi.com/~i-zombie/newdoggie4.jpg

I have a black lab mix right now, and I love mutts (they have just as much love to give as pure breeds ^_^ ). But my favorite pure breed is german shepherds. My parents had one when I was growing up and they have such great intelligence and aura of pride to them.

I agree, mutts are especially cute and well-natured. I think some of the mutts that are half German shepard are the best. I have a three year old purebred German shepard (Max). He is a very handsome dog, but to put it nicely, he's not the brightest crayon in the box. Here is a picture I found: Here's a picture of a yellow lab that wandered into our garage in the winter but eventually made it back to its owner: A nice dog but it barked for attention. That is one thing I hate, when dogs bark constantly until you stop what you are doing and pet them or play with them. It's even worse when they have real high pitched barks.

My father raised champion German Sheperds when I was young. My Last dog was wonderful; a Black Labrador/Golden Retreiver mix. I currentlyown a Basset Hound. They're WONDERFUL!....from a distance. (Preferably several states....)

Sushi looks like a black golden retriever, no speck of white on him. He's the sweetest dog ever, but not the not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He doesn't bark much, just at the neighbors sometimes when he gets scared or if he doesn't recognize somebody. He is a WEIRDO though. His latest thing is carrying around socks. He just started that about a month ago and we have no idea why. He doesn't chew them or tear holes, he just carries them around and sometimes looks sheepish (and noone can give a more sheepish look than Sushi) if we catch him. In the past when he was a puppy, he would steal loaves of bread off the kitchen counter and bring them to my mom while whining to tattle on himself, "Hey, the dog could get this!" And for a short time he left things such as hammers and knives in my parent's bed; sometimes under their pillow. (That stopped pretty quickly) Sometimes we give him a few left over french fries and he always carries them over the bottom stair to eat them and won't eat if he catches someone looking at him. The one thing he knows how to do well is retrieve. We brought him home and thought he was so smart because he could play fetch right away. Well, we figured out why they call them "retrievers" real quick, and that's all he can do, really. Oh, and he knows "out." On good days, he remembers "sit" and possibly "lie down." hehehe. He's definitely a weirdo.

Max is a weirdo too. he takes rocks from around our pool and pushes them around the yard while barking at them. Short terms, he plays with rocks. -_- He used to carry cinderblocks around in his mouth..and "play" with those...

I love mutts! Preferably so mutt-ish that you can just barely guess at their heritage. My first dog (she lives with my parents; I left home and she didn't) is a yellow Lab-- supposedly purebred, but not AKC registered, so who knows. She was crazy when she was younger (OK, she's still crazy, but not hyper anymore). Her favorite thing was knives...she liked to chew on the handles and carry them around by the blade (causing much panic in the household). She's 10 now and my parents still have a few knives with teeth marks on the handles. If I were to get a purebred, I'd get a Shiloh Shepherd--like a German Shepherd Dog but properly bred so as not to have all the genetic problems that GSDs are so prone to (although there are breeders that claim to have Shilohs, but aren't members of the ISSR, don't believe them!). Bigger, too. Also, I hate the sloped hips all the GSDs seem to have now. Here's a link: http://www.shilohshepherds.org/atthe.htm. I also like Rottweilers and Dobermann Pinschers, though it might be hard to find someone who has bred for temperment, too many breeders breed for looks. And I feel sorry for them having their tails amputated (without anesthetic, most of the time)--and I'd NEVER have a dog's ears cut off. But mostly I prefer mutts.

Well I love cats, and with my cat right now, I would never even consider getting another cat, never mind a dog. Zoey is a little possessive, to say the least. But If I were to get a dog, it would be without a question, a Newfoundland. They are like big huge hairy teddy bears. Think black lab with longer hair and big... really big. The only other dogs that I like really are german shepards or border collies. Small dogs disturb me, and I have never really liked them.

I got to say that Rottweiler are My fav I got 1 and she is the best dog anyone could want. Idid breed her and I did do it for temperment. She had a big litter and had to have a c-sec we lost 4 pups so very bad time for her and me cuz she rejected the pups and i had to feed 7 pups every 2hours not fun but all did turn out good. Now we have a boxer that is still in the hyper stage but cute
