I'm one of the biggest Batman/Dark-Knight fans you'll ever meet I have a collection of movie memorabilia, comic books, mint-in-package action figures and apparel that has an estimated value of $500+ dollars, I've seen every show, movie and animated series on the character that has ever been made available to the to public so I know my Batman and Ben he aint it...Don't get me wrong I think Ben is a good actor and he's really good as a director/producer I just don't see him doing well with yet another comic book character. He did okay as the Dare Devil back in the 90's but really didn't give the awe inspiring performance that the character called for and I'm afraid he'll be as bad or worse doing the role of Batman.I guess I just don't see him following the likes of Michale Keaton, Val Kilmer or Christian Bale as they have set the bar higher and higher ending with Christian's hard hitting gritty, raw version which in my opinion raised the bar so high that only a handful of people could follow and do better.I know there are a lot of people out there who didn't like Christopher Nolan's version of the Batman/Dark Knight story but the truth is his version has been the most believable even though he deviated from the core story with certain character choices.Vicki Vale a reporter for the GCN or Gotham City News was actually Bruce's first love interest not Rachel Dawes.Rachel's character is not mentioned anywhere in my DC character encyclopedia meaning that her character was written specifically for the movie and never occurred in the comics. There were just a few small deviations such as this but the main story was mostly left intact.Zack Snyder the director for the Man of Steel says that Ben will do just fine and is really excited to work with him but I just don't think Ben's going to be believable as the Caped Crusader but who knows he might surprise me.lol

I definitely agree with you! Words of encouragement, though: Michael Keaton of Beetlejuice, Mr. Mom and other quirky, funny films had my dad just as concerned when first taking on the role of Batman. Hopefully Ben Affleck will surprise us as he surprised my dad! I feel the same as you about Christian Bale. He was AMAZING as Batman! I love the Dark Night series. I'm not into comic books or graphic novels but they make the BEST movies. Seriously.

Ben Affleck Reminds me of George Clooney so some may like him. Clooney did pretty good as Bruce Wayne but was pathetic as Batman. My husband thinks Affleck has a better chance than Clooney.

Looks like the DC fans have gotten their hackles up over the casting choice for Batman and have started a petition which was at 30,000 sigs as of two days ago and is growing daily to get the role handed to someone else other than Ben.The speculation is that Ben only got the role as DC is trying him out because he has put in to direct the upcomming JLA or Justice League of America movie due to hit theaters by 2018 and so the executives want to see how familiar he is with the DC universe before they give him the directing gig.The part was originally offered to Christian Bale but he was forced to decline as he has reportedly signed back on with Christopher Nolan to do another three Dark Knight movies for an estimated 50million dollars.Nolan has been reported as saying that he wants to extend the existing franchise and take it into the Batman Beyond era where the 3rd Robin(Jason Todd)was forced into assuming the role of his mentor Batman after Bruce gets into his seventies.Bruce was apparently able to find one of the Lazurus pits used by Raz al' Gul after having defeated the villian and was in the habbit of using the pit to keep himself young and strong but at some point he decided to stop and give up his role to a much younger man. The suit used in the Batman Beyond story line happens to be capeless and a lot more streamlined than it's predecessors giving the new Batman a much more sleek and agile look.I don't know if Nolan will actually go forward with the Batman Beyond story as this was an early idea of his as a way of continuing his franchise.
