I just got txt confirmation that my brother is getting tickets for the 8o'colck showing tomorrow night as my birthday present from him and his wife my wonderful sister-in-law.I couldn't ask for a better sis in law or brother, He's younger than me by three years but he acts like he's the older brother since I have so many physical issues I really can't do much so he takes care of me.I've got a total of eight people coming to my house for my b-day celebration tomorrow, I just got my cake order from Kroger's and found a copy of the 1980's classic The Last Dragon for six dollars at Kroger's at well.lolThis particular movie is a huge part of my child hood because it was released the same year I was born I kind of grew up on it. I'm a big 1980's film fanatic and I've already got a copy of the Never Ending Story 1&2, Willow, the classic live action TMNT(The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)movies, Blood Sport,Back to The Future 3 disk collectors set, the classic 1989 Batman and Teen Wolf 1&2.I still want to find a copy of Johny Five-Short Circuit and Beetle Juice then my 80's movie collection will be complete.

I like the Neverending Stories also and have them in our collection. I don't know if your much on cartoons but The Hobbit series is also in cartoon and is really good in my opinion. Not sure the date they came out but they're older shows, probably the 80's as well.

@Jenok, I have seen the original Hobbit cartoon way back when I was a kid and I really liked it.lolWell the Desolation of Smaug was so much better then An Unexpected Journey, the action was intense and the movie didn't stray too far from the book so thats a plus and Peter actually gets into a back story between one of the dwarfs and an Elf while they are imprisoned in the wood elf's kingdom which was a nice plot twist since it didn't actually happen in the book it gave an additional layer to the story that was missing in the book. All in all the movie was fantastic and I can't wait for it to come out on DVD in a few months.

@Crabber,I agree. I thought the barrel scene was great, and I kinda liked the backstory of Kili getting shot and such. Added some more story.

@crabber I have them in our collection so I can watch them on occasion when I want too. Your never too old to be a kid. I can't wait for it to come out on video so I can watch it. I read somewhere that it was way off the original story line so I wasn't sure what it would be like. Now I know and with 2 reviews from you guys it sounds like its great. Thanks!

@jenok, I wouldn't worry to much about what anybody else says as the movie is always a little different from the book due to creative differences and such and I absolutely trust Peter Jackson to do a good job as he's a die-hard Tolkien fan from way back so he wont change anything thats key to the central story line you can count on it.
