In just 3 days, I'm going to Alaska on a mission trip! I'm so excited! We will be working in small villages near Anchorage. I've heard that Alaska is so beautiful and can't wait to see all the wildlife and beautiful scenery. I also can't wait to work with the natives! We will be helping the villagers with small projects and conducting a Vacation Bible School for the kids. I'm regretting leaving my hermies though... my sister will be taking care of them while I am gone. I will definitely update you all on how it went when I get back!

That is fabulous! Take lots of pictures, take extra film/data cards/whatever you use to take photos. We went on a cruise several years ago now and I literally took 500 pictures. It was amazing. Have a great time.Peg

I have seen pictures of the scenery from when my aunt went up. Definitely take a large amount of film or a large memory card for your camera.

My brothers in-laws went to Alaska on a cruise and they got to see some of Anchorage if I'm not mistaken and they also brought back lots of pictures and the one thing that they kept saying was the mosquitoes were horrible.lolBe sure to bring plenty of bug repellent.

They are pretty bad up there. I hear and see some pictures from and admin on HCA. From what I have gathered, around this time if year the weather is just a little bit cooler than here. Low and higher 60's.

May you fare well and may God be with you!But if the mosquitoes get really bad make a homemade mosquito trap: HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP.Items needed:200 ml water50 grams of brown sugar1 gram of yeast2-liter plastic bottleOr US conversion:1 cup of water1/4 cup of brown sugarHOW:1. Cut the plastic bottle in half.2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle.3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired.5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area. (Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black)

Will also try that mosquito trap!My skin is like God's gift to mosquitoes. I practically have itchy bite swellings that turn to dark spots when they heal >__<
