deep freeze towns shut down

Started snowing yesterday and then the blowing started! Winter storm warning near blizzard conditions. Roads blowing shut big time. My son that works 30 miles away made it home before it got real bad but had to go in this morning at 10, he said his boss called him said the people that live in town are calling in saying they can't make it! Darryl ( his dad ) took him left at 8:30 got there over an hour later. He is spending the night there cause he has to be there by 5:30 a.m. Monday,he had to work til 7:30. Thought it'd be a waste of time to be home by 8:30 then have to leave by 4:30 to get there by 5:30. My other son that works in macomb said his boss called him said they are not opening birkeys tractor store and to stay home. We are not opening the library either. I made a sign long time ago and stuck it on the door incase of inclement weather where the staff deems it's to dangerous we will be closed until the next safe business day. Examples are no power, extreme weather conditions, stairs to icy and dangerous for public safety. Sorry for any inconveniences. We have like 30 - 40 mile winds and they are saying wind chill is going to be like -30??? Went to macomb Thursday and got plastic shrink wrap for my Windows in my living room. O my gosh! When I put it on the wind the came through made the plastic bow til I got the blow dryer on it. Air still leaks through but it's better than it was. These are brand new Windows, well only bout 6 years old if that. I'm glad I got it put on before the storm hit.

Stay safe laurie!Even i am experiencing chilly weather here to think that i'm in a tropical country right now. Can't imagine what you guys are going thru every winter season

@Laurie, we are getting hit full force this far south by the same weather system/cold front wreaking havoc on the northern states.We have had an adivisory go out today to keep the water running in the fuacets near or on exterior walls because the temps are supposed to be down in the single digits tonight with a wind chil of below zero.We aren't expecting any snow but the temps are low enough to cause more than enough problems with out the wintery precipitation.I feel for you I really do it seems like the whole nation just about is in a deep freeze and from what I gather the temps aren't going to be getting any better here for a few days yet....

School canceled again Tuesday. Walked to clinic to clean just half a block from my house and my nose hair was freezing together! Yes very cold again tonight tomorrow is warm up! 0 degrees! Dig out the swim suit!

Just watched a US news program earlier. Omg at -55 tops in i forgot what state and 1 degree in texas @__@Stay safe and stay warm guys!

Sitting in my rocking chair with blankets around me and over my legs and still freezing! Then I figured out why..duh!no hoodie! Got my pink one on , put the hood on and what a difference! No wonder the little house on the prairie people went to bed with hats on, they do keep the best in. My jeep hasn't started for two days, luckily my jobs are with in walking distance about half a block. But the side walks are about knee deep with snow.today I walked to the library, I took my slippers with me so when I got there I could shuck my boots and wear them. Good thing I did cause I had snow in my boots. I have been tacking thick blankets up over Windows til i can get more shrink window plastic wrap

I've been having bad weather conditions off and on here too. Sun thru tue was pretty bad the kids were supposed to start back to school mon and didn't. We have well water and my hubby woke me up early mon and said we don't have any water. Well crap, got we both got some coffee and went to see if we could figure out why. Turns out the heater we put in the well house to keep it from freezing had a wire chewed into so we had to replace that, waited for a few hours and still no water. It was warm enough in the well house now the pipes should've/was thawed so back towards the house we go and the water shutoff/entrance to the house was froze also so we had to thaw it out before we finally had water around noon. Usually I don't have any problem with it but it was 0 and the wind chill was like -10 or so.
