uuuhhg! people and their web sites! years ago we did garden tractor pulls, well we decided to get 'er going again by going to West Point Ia Sweet Corn Fest. spent money and lots of time getting them ready. went to the web site to make sure of the rules and regs have NOT changed. nothing all it said was must haves kill switch, wheely bars, tires are to be this size, that was it and entry fee. we get there and then all heck breaks loose we were met with such rudeness about how we can't run because of the new rules, and now you have wear helments and fire suits if your running air plane fuel ok I see that but the other issues they were complaining about were so trivial. then to sit and say stuff about booze and no drinking to when every one there was drinking , even the drivers of the tractors! ours was about a fly wheel?? something about it could come apart and hit the crowd? well ok they have 4 & 5 yr old kids that think they can drive and can't reach the pedals, can't stay on the track, they hit that gas hard they think that daddy is going to get to them fast enough to keep them from hitting the crowd? or if someone is running airplane fuel and it blows up that won't harm a spectator?? all these rules are in the national tractor association rules. if this site would of had a link to this we could of saved time and money and not even bothered showing up! used to be just all fun, and never once has any accidents ever happened because of a fly wheel, you pulled for trophy's / cash and fun/ back yard garden tractor fun. now they have got their hand on it and it's all for points used to be 50 -70 some tractors pulling, there prob only 20..little towns are being run out from doing it if they let them do it cause people can't keep up with their rules and their souped up tractors.. the only way we can is to do it our selves, my father in law has his own sled he built but the souped up one tore it up! maybe he should fix it and have one and tell them sorry you can't pull, this is for the non tractor association people!
