Depends on your set up. What do you have? Where is it located? (in a closet? near a window?) Is it used as a heat source? Peg

I have a 20 gallon tank that is located in the center of the wall not near the window and yes it's used as a heat source because the lady at Pets Mart said I should have a hot side and a cool side

I would repost this question in the LHC forum which is the best place for it. You will get better responses.I don't have a lamp/light on mine but they are in a 10gal tank so the light would make it to hot and dry. Besides they get natural light thru the french doors which are 80% glass. When you repost include details of how your tank is set up, how big it is, ect...Chances are the person at the pet store told you a lot of wrong information. Please read thru and ask as many questions as you need to.
