Lava stone's a hit
Nicole sent my crabbies a black lava stone for birds that contains iodine and other minerals. I'm pretty sure it's a source of calcium as well but whatever's in it my crabs are favorably responding to. I broke it in half and in both tanks there's been a crab stationed on it, scraping away practically since I put it in last week. I went to Petco and got two more for my Lovebird and Parakeet but the stones aren't getting a hint of interest from the birds, just the crabs.

Lava stone's a hit
Well, that is great! I *thought* I had bought a lava stone, but mine looks nothing like that. I asked for one at the pet store but they sold me this. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/b ... G_2484.jpg I wonder if this is a lava stone too, or what it is???

I have one of those too, mine's triangle with a hole in the center and they love to climb on it. It feels coral'ish. I thought they'd snack on it but they have no interest in doing so thus far. They're actually both called lava stones. What the difference is, I don't know; the smaller ones might be enhanced with minerals.
