Water treatment

Post by Mr. Crab's mom » Tue Nov 02, 2010 10:40 am

I've been buying spring water for my crabs but we also have fish so I was wondering if I could use the stuff I treat their water with to make water for my crabs to drink and their salt water.

I think u were saying ditch the spring water and make ur own de-chlor water right? well you can use the fish water softener if it doesn't have "stress coat" in it just read the package and make sure all it does is condition the water. If so, go ahead and use that with some tap water and to make salt water just mix in the salt after conditioning the tap water.btw, spring water is safe, I use it too.

Water treatment

Not all dechlor products are equal. When treating tap water you need one that removes chlorine, chloramines and neutralizes heavy metals. The product must do all three and as said, it cannot contain stress coat or any ingredient that stimulates a slime coat. Bottled water must be from a spring as some bottled waters are little more than tap.I use API brand tap water conditioner. It's available at WalMart, too which makes purchase easier than hoofing to the petstore.
