Crabby breaks record for calcium ingestion

Post by Crabby Abby » Thu Sep 04, 2008 2:23 pm

J/k but one of mine could.I have a post molt crab that grabbed a large piece of lobster exo (that I put in on 8/17) for himself. He sat in the corner of the tank for a full week eating nothing but that. When he slept, he had one leg on it. Somehow I see he stashed and retrieved another piece of lobster exo. (I had put a couple pieces of various size.) He dragged that to the corner and ate that too. He doesn't do much else and I've taken to setting food dishes closer to him in the hopes that he's getting proper nutrition and if he's not to encourage him to do so.I did find him in the food dish yesterday and today, sitting in the calcium dish which has a mix of calcisand, crushed oyster shells, crushed sand dollars, a piece of cuttlebone and clean eggshells. And he's stuffing his face. It's been 2 1/2 weeks and he's not had his fill?! I don't know whether to laugh or be concerned.

Spay or neuter your pet. It's a matter of life or death.
