What is a good declorinator to use? I am going to use Doc Wellfish's Aquarium Salt but I still need a declorinator for the fresh and salt water. I looked in the archived and tired a search but could not find any recommendations. Are they all the same?

I use Jungle Ace and just add a few drops to a refilled water bottle. I have tried other drops as well. I think the important thing to know is if your water is treated with chlorine or chloramine, and treat according to the directions for what you have.I do tend to overtreat, since it is only drops per bottle of water. As far as brand preferred, this one was on sale.I don't worry much about brands and have used the "hermit crab water conditioner" drops. This was cheaper and I think they mostly work the same.Someone else might know of a good reason for choosing another brand, so I will keep looking here to see what I can learn.good luck!
I have had hermit crabs for a couple of years and still have most of my originals. I joined LHC over a year ago and have learned a lot about crab care there. I have about 50 crabs (PP, Straw and E) in my 130 gallon tank that is a feature point of my living room.

API has a good one. Some use Amquel, I think, and Wardleys is okay too.

Whatever tap water conditioner you choose, it MUST also remove chloramines and heavy metals, in addition to chlorine. Chloramines are more widely used in tap water these days and are more dangerous and harder to remove.http://www.epa.gov/Region9/water/chloramine.htmlHere is a website which has compared most brands of water conditioners:http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/rev-cond.htmThe only water conditioners that remove chlorine, chloramine, heavy metals are:- AquaScience Ultimate- Seachem Prime- Tetra AquaSafeNote that the ones that have (Y) in parenthesis for chloramines actually don't use a separate chloramine removing agent and produce ammonia byproduct.

It's its true 100% natural spring/mountain water, it should be OK as is. Distilled and reverse RO water would also be safe, but it lacks trace nutrients the crabs require in water. A lot of bottled water is nothing more than bottled tap water, and I would recommend using dechlor on that.
