Can the Crabs Be Affected by Loud Music?

Post by Kharasmatic » Fri Dec 23, 2005 9:34 am

I was wondering if anybody knew if crabbies could hear or not...I sometimes leave music on for mine, but I'm wondering if it has any effect or if they can even hear it?

Also, they live in my room and sometimes I play loud music...do you think that disturbs them?

I believe they can feel vibrations. I'm had my stereo on my floor playing while they're walking on it and they always go away from it like it bothers them. I'm not sure if they really do hear things, but I know they feel vibrations and its similiar.

I believe that they only sense vibrations. If you have noticed, when they chirp, they vibrate, as a way to comunicate. A lot of animals do that.I don't think it would bother them to much, but keep the bass down

I believe that they do pick up the vibrations, but that doesn't mean they can't hear. It may just be somewhat different than we hear is all. I've noticed that some of my crabs do seem to notice music and will gravitate towards it sometimes.
