She made it!

She made it! She is ALIVE!! Talia is the itty bitty one that I wrote about in mid September who was in such horrible conditions and the customer at the petstore gave her to me. She had been buried since the end of September. I had given up on her and decided to clean the ISO today. I found her shell and was knocking the dirt from it, thank goodness I was being gentle. She moved! I almost dropped her I was so surprised. I quickly put her in with the big guys, they were the closest tank and I'm moving everyone to that tank so I can set up the 55, hopefully this weekend. I was so sure that someone SO tiny could not possibly still be alive after all that time. And, no she was not coming up, I took almost everything out and smoothed the sub. What a fabulous early Christmas gift!

Congratulations! And guess what? Not even two minutes ago, I found Curiosity in the ISO!!! Yes, I saw a hole, and dug near it. Then I saw his shell. I held my breath-was he still alive? And he was-looking nice and fresh, so I guess he molted Question though: when can he move to the main crabitat? It's been almost two months, so is it OK?

I would wait to move him to the main tank until he is moving around well. It has been plenty of time but I like to let them recover a bit first. I moved Talia because I had much of the ISO emptied. Yay for Curiosity! It is always such a relief.

He's moving around like crazy, but I'll give him till tomorrow just to be sure. It's really strange how both of our crabs went down around the same time and came up on the same day. Coincidence? Underground hermit crab communication?
