I would refrain from baking sand in them!!I just did and shortly thereafter I got dizzy and slightly nauseated, symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.Granted, it was very mild and it didn't even set off my CO detectors, but it felt a lot like CO poisoning.I don't know if there is something in sand that, when mixed with heat from burning propane, causes a chemical reaction. But something definitely made me sick.So if anyone has a gas stove and wants to sterilize their crabs' sand, I would at the very least, use a LOT of ventilation.
