Youtube Hermit Crab Care videos... their so bad :(

IF THIS IS IN THE WRONG PLACE SORRY!So I was looking through some videos and I came across this girl.. shes maybe 12 or 13 and she was showing off her hermit crabs. Her cage was AWFUL! She had colored sand she got for a sand bottle craft kit in their cage, it was bone dry, she had three hermit crabs in a five gallon tank, her shells were ALL painted, the sand wasn't even two inches deep, she has NO saltwater only a tiny dish of fresh water that was about the size of a bottle cap. This video was made five days ago so I told her what she was doing wrong and she started telling to to beep off and go beep myself. I mean I just told her what she need to fix so her hermit crabs wouldn't die or get sick. I started looking at her past videos and came across a care video she did and it was just... It makes My head hurt so much. Worse yet people commented on it how it was so helpful. Just out of curiosity I looked up hermit crab care and so many poor Hermits. It's depressing. There are a lot of good ones but sadly the bad ones over power all of them. I think I'm going to make a video so maybe a few hermit crabs can have a better life. Why don't the people who haven't made any yet make some so we can save a hermit?

That is definitely bad. I think I will make a video of proper hermit crab care and put it on utube. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately the Pet trade industry works with sites like Youtube to suppress the proper information while promoting the bad because its good for their bottom line so when we who actually know a thing or two put a video up it almost instantly gets flagged and removed this is what I like to refer to as Freedom of Suppress the big companies who work in selling hermitcrabs and hermitcrab accessories will do whatever it takes to discredit us or to disqualify our knowledge of proper hermitcrab care in order to keep up the high mortality rate of the thousands of crabs a year that they sell.I've been banned on so many video response sections because I tend to just tell it like it is and either the poster or Youtube in general doesn't appreciate my straight-forward approach and my comment gets flagged and then removed.I've shot a couple of videos on proper hermitcrab care using the years of knowledge that I have gleaned on the subject but Youtube refuses to let me upload them stating that my upload privileges have been revoked or denied based on past complaints from other viewers...I've gotten to the point that I don't even like searching for how-to videos on the subject anymore.Youtube works with corporate sponsors through its parent Google hence the commercials and adds everywhere on there now and since Google gets paid by the advertisers they tend to promote channels dedicated to the products that those adds feature which includes pet care products through places like Pet-smart and Petco so videos that tell the truth about proper pet care get booted to the back of the lists rarely ever making an appearance on our screens being that they have been relegated to obscurity and hidden under the tens of thousands of commercially supported videos which isn't fair nor is it legal but hey our Rights to Free Speech and Press don't really matter anymore anyway obviously you need money to get your thoughts heard.

It's so stupid I haven't even owned them very long and It's just... uggg At least I got one person to fix her tank! She actually joined a hermit crab forum I believe.

Some of these vids are several years old and prob back then it was standard care. I have also watched many of them and left comments about the care and got rude comments about how I am and this site are just a bunch of know it all's. You can lead horse to water but you can't make them drink..I have since quit commenting on vids now don't even sign into my you tube account anymore, don't even remember my sign in name or p.w. I figure yes it's a shame the crab has to take one for the team but either they the owner will either get that light bulb moment of well maybe someone was right and do know what they are talking about or they just decide to give it up.

Really, I agree. There is a pair of girls who I watched race hermit crabs on utube and was horrified to watch one of them drop the hermit crab and promptly start laughing. The comments were all like, We love you! There was one comment on how the poor crabs were being treated. Uhgggggggg.
