Did anyone ever hear of this???

The temperature is about 75 - 80, humidity from 75-85 fluctuates. I check the gauge, as well as the substrate. I spray the substrate when I feel it is dry on top. I have both a salt water and spring water dish. I have tried a variety of food. When I bought them the woman said their favorite foods were pizza, corn on cob, and chicken on bone. I gave them all 3 when they were in the wire cage and all ate. When I moved them to their new tank, I offered "better" foods, organic almond butter, pumpkin, cooked chop meat, egg yolk and shell. Last night I put in a small piece of pizza and that was actually dragged from the food dish. I also saw marks in the almond butter, so I know one of them has eaten something. But all 3 were active and eating in the wire cage!

Think of it this way. Someone takes you out of your home life that you've known forever. Puts you in a jail cell with nothing but food and water. Of course your going to start climbing the walls. Finally someone gets you out puts you back in a space that's at least closer to what you lived in with a bed and other stuff. Of course your going to slow down and take a "chill pill" your going to start relaxing and trying to fix all the damage done to you by going crazy in the cell. When I first got my crab he was pretty active and ate and drank a lot. Then it started going under the sub/coco fiber and there it stayed for about 2 months. I was really worried but I did a lot of research on here and eventually my crab came back up and started acting like a normal crab. It had molted and de stressed came back a brilliant dark redish purple with long hairy legs. On a side note I don't suggest giving the pizza but the chicken meat and bone is fine as long as you don't put seasonings on it. Check out this list of foods also located in the zoea forum. food listNot all crabs like everything on the list you'll just have to put various things in to see what hey like the best. They live better on a varied diet so always change what you give them don't give it every day.

I want to thank everyone for all their responses to my dilemma. I have read the food list and have printed it out to keep on hand. I have also varied the diet and just gave pizza because it had worked before. I will keep everyone posted on their progress.

Please do. And don't become a stranger stick around there is plenty to learn here even if all your crabs go down to molt it never hurts to check out everything and learn more while your waiting for them to come back up. The archived library info at the bottom of the main forum page has awesome info in it. Anything from adding extra levels to DIY projects to food and water info.
