Yeah I'll be sure to get enough circular opening shells for my PPs! And even though they might not need as much salt water, I've still read that they need access to some.

You could always surround your water bowl with moss and huge pebbles so your water doesn't get soupy all the time. Makes for a nice water overflow as well

For second level ideas look in the archived library section there are tons of ideas there and other info as well. I use play sand for my 10g tank and it works very well. I have done the finger hole method but like stated above it is very easy to add to much. If you have any crabs buried I don't do it that way just spray a little on top and it will soak up where it needs to go. I don't have to add water very often though. If none are buried you can stir the sand a bit. Calcium sand is not good for anything other than feeding a calcium source or mixed at low levels with the other sub, to me it's too expensive too mess with. I took in some crabs that a lady didn't want anymore and she had used the colored calcium sand I immediately added water and it did nothing but make a mess the crabs soaked up some of the color and the sand didn't absorb the water like the play sand does, when it dried it was cement like and I had to give all the crabs a bath when I got them home to prevent them from getting stuck in their shells. Never again have I even considered the stuff.
