HELP HELP/CLICK HERE/DO THIS posts
Hey everyone,Recently there have been some instances of posts being made where the subject was something like HELP ME or READ THIS.For ages we had a thread in LHC that said that those kinds of posts were discouraged here, but the thread seems to have gotten lost somewhere. So this is reiteration of that policy. If you need help, it is fine to ask for help, just please come up with a subject for your thread that sums up what your problem is about. For example, if you had a crab that was naked and topside molted, you'd have a subject of "Naked topside molter, help!" or something like that. That way people who have hardly any experience don't waste time clicking on the thread. Posting a precise subject will get you the results you need much faster than HELP HELP.LHC members are great at helping each other out and should not stop! This is only an effort to see that that helpful nature is not taken for granted and/or abused by those who would rather post HELP HELP than do a search that would turn up results in less than a minute.Thank you everyone for your attention to this matter.Happy crabbing!Christa

Thank you for re-addressing this issue Christa! How about one to enforce the content portions (and headings)of the posts people make? Such as speaking in proper grammar and not text talk, spelling words out and again, not using some childish lingo, as well as using punctuation where applicable. Unfortunately, there are several members posts that I personally find very difficult to read and interpret and have to ignore them, which is unfortunate as they may have something important to say.

Some of us are just too lazy to correct our spelling and grammer.

And some of us are too boggled by those to bother deciphering them.

I agree on the using text language on here, some people are not up to that speed of abbreviating words, but if you do text a lot sometimes it becomes second nature. My big thing is caps, just because I use caps sometimes does not mean I am yelling & do not need to "scolded" on here as I was once. I am not a very good typist and not used to using a lap top and I watch what I type so sometimes I hit the caps key and not know it til later, I don't want to erase all I wrote just to make it correct. Remember it was posted that kids use this to and some do not have good grammer or puncuation skills.

The problem with all caps (aside from the fact that it is construed as yelling or occasional emphasis) is that it's also really difficult to read. That's the main issue with texting and L33T speech as well. Aside from the issue of not everyone understanding it, it's just plain difficult to read a post that is all short textspeak. Basically, we can understand an occasional slip up or using abbreviations such as LOL from time to time, but it's a little overwhelming when it's an entire post and/or when it's frequently done. Unfortunately, it could even be misconstrued as inconsideration for fellow posters. At worst, it can make others reluctant to read certain posts and may lead to fewer responses for questions regarding the wellbeing of the crabbies.

I will try to keep the text language to a minimum from now on! srry! < :O i did it again! About my grammar, I try to make it understandable but sometimes I will put my commas in wrong places and misplace words. I'm 13 so I just haven't learned all the fancy grammar yet and as for txt language: I txt so much it's not even funny so I actually have to try NOT to use the abreviations lol. >:O I did it like three times in that sentence w/ out even noticing!!! (this is gonna b hard...)

I don't care for text speak posts myself but haven't noticed you doing it T, so you must be doing it sparingly. A few words isn't much of an issue but some people do it for the entire post, lengthy ones at that such as intros or ISO posts for help.

I try really hard not to use texting language on this site because I realized most people on here are older than me and probably don't text as much as I do. That's probably why you don't see too much of it in my posts.

I try to keep my posts pertty formal, so that way theres no reading issues. Every now and then I'll add a little something. xD <--- Like that.

xD <--- & L33Tok - what does do they mean? I don't mind the odd bit of txting but I just don't understand it if there is anything that is not obvious! (I have just proven my age haven't I )

I have been on here almost a year and since I got my touch screen phone for Christmas last year I do alot of texting so I have to really keep the urge to text talk here down because I'm so used to texting it just seems odd not to. And as for the other L33T I don't even know what that is. I do agree that topic headers should be definitive as well as the placement of the topic in just the short time I've been an admin I've moved two misplaced topics myself.
Hi I have autism so I tend to answer questions very directly and with little emotion so please don't think I'm being rude.
