If when I'm spraying the crabitat to increase humidity I spray my crabs is it bad?

I got my two crabs a month ago know and they've yet to molt just changed their sand for the first time. Often when I'm spraying the tank to get the humidity to get to proper levels I do spray them in the crossfire so to speak. Also I'm feeding them the food that came with them could this in anyway be bad.

Mist from above them, it doesn't hurt them. Also it depends on what food food you got.. most commercial foods are junk. Your better off looking at the food list on here or getting food from the hermit crab patch. There are things you have I bet you can make right now to feed them. Bananas, apples w no peels, air popped pop corn w no seasoning, hard boiled egg make sure it's cooled. Raw chicken? Cook it in their water, cool and shred it up. Got dried leaves in your yard, maple? Wash w their water pat dry and put in container.

If your having to mist everyday for humidity then there is probably something with your setup that isn't quite right. Most setups should be able to keep humidity for approx. a week before having to spray or add water give or take depending on tank size and environment you live in. If this is the case let us know about your setup everything from substrate to lid and tank size lights ect...If you are only giving one type of food they aren't getting the proper nutrition. Check out our food list located in the top part of the zoea forum and try to give them something from each category.Think of commercial food this way if "you" only ate a low quality multivitamin everyday you would still eventually starve with no real food.

Well I have six inches of sand castle consitancy sand, a ten gallon tank, two water bowls and food dish, to climbing walls and a mesh ceiling with Serian wrap around it. I have two crabs and yes they've been on the commercial food for a while and the only heat source I have is a uth rated for 30-40 gallons. I usually have too mist once a day too once every other day.

I have the same set up pretty much but I don't usually have to mist. However I highly dought you live anywhere close to me so here are my suggestions:#1 You may need to have more of you lid covered. Mine is about 98% covered leaving around a quarter of an inch open down the short side of the lid. Some people just leave an inch in the corner only.#2 It may be where you live. If there is little to no humidity outside it will draw a lot of moisture from the tank. Keg, one of the members lives in Arizona where it is very dry most of the year and has to either have a humidifier going or continually boils water just so her crabs have enough moisture/humidity.There are ideas for boosting humidity in the archived library section at the bottom of the main forums page.

My crabs like being sprayed onBut , since I got areptifogger, they love that too

Just don't spray directly on them..it is hard in their faces and eyes. It's like us getting sprayed in the face with a fire hose. Ouch! That's why I say from above them. You would be so much happier if you went and bout the aquarium hood that belongs to the 10 gal tank. It comes with the light and the full lid. You can replace the light w a moon glow and you can leave it on all day. The lid helps a lot

The lid on their aquarium is the one it came with wrapped in Derain wrap. I don't have a way to get anything else at this point.
