No, over time even sharpie pens wear off. Crabs are meant to be kept in the most natural state of environment that they came from, all these painted shells, glass shells, shellac type things are very dangerous to your crabs

If your wanting a design that bad buy some shells that are natural but have been etched/carved. I know I've seen some with palm trees and dolphins on them. Or you could get some tapestry shells. They are pretty and come in a few different colors and most crabs like them. One of mine will only wear a tapestry shell. I bought some from the Naples shell company earlier this year for reasonable prices.Here is a link to a previous thread telling all about shells. Hope this helps you. shell info

I agree! Absolutely NO Sharpie pens..Very toxic indeed The Hermit Crab Patch Has shells you would like!! The hermit crab patch is a very positive reviewed place

Bad idea if your trying to tell your crabs apart just get different colored shells. Sharpie decorations would end up being extremely toxic for many resions.
