Can hermit crabs eat dead goldfish

Dead or decaying fish happens to be one of the central parts of the hermitcrabs natural diet but I don't know about giving dead pet store fish because these fish often times have intestinal parasites or bacterial, fungal or viral infections that kill them and could kill the crabs.
