can anybody give me actual really gourmet recipes for hermit crabs? like cooked stuff, not some, leaves or bread in a bowl. maybe hermit crab safe and human safe baking dessert, or a good healthy meal?

Not sure what you are looking for. I would say hermit crabs don't do gourmet, too rich, too many spices. But if you're looking for examples of how to feed them your meals here is an example. I made Chicken Pad Thai for dinner the other night. The chicken gets cooked in olive oil so before I did anything else to it, I pulled aside some for them. We add bean sprouts, unsalted peanuts, and carrots, all of which I pulled aside portions for the hermit crabs while doing the prep work. The egg is cooked with garlic so no egg for crabbies but they did get the shell. The noodles get soaked and then cooked in a sauce. They got a few of the rice noodles. Then a lime is squeezed on top of the Pad Thai so a wedge of lime got put in for the crabs too. So for dinner they got chicken, peanuts, carrots, bean sprouts, egg shell, rice pasta and lime.

acidic fruits like limes are not good for hermit crabs. I was looking for a baking or cooking recipe that is safe for hermit crabs, if you don't know of one, then i will be creative, and make one up.

Here is where we have a debate. Lime is a citrus fruit, citrus is on our safe food list. I do not claim to be an expert by any means but I have done a fair amount of research and have paid attention to those on this list who have done in depth research and have coupled that with many years of experience. They put together the initial safe food list and I trust that nothing gets added without due diligence. I do not bake or otherwise cook specific foods for the hermit crabs, mostly because the portions would have to be tiny or somehow preserved. Maybe if you freeze it but in my house that would equal more waste than I am willing to bear. I feed them as described above based on what the family is eating and with dry foods from reputable sources supplementing.

every website, including reliable ones that i have read have said that you shouldn't give them citrus, it wears down their teeth.

Teeth? Now that's a first! I have never heard of a hermit crab having teeth. Can you PM me a link to where you found that, I just have to see it for myself!Okay, there are all sorts of stickies pinned to the top of the Zoea section. The food list is here. Different browsers might get you there differently but in mine I click on the word Forums at the top of my page and it brings up all of the ones on this site, I click Zoea and there are all the stickies at the top.
