how do i keep the humidity up without always spritzing? before i leave for the day, i spritz the cage a crazy amount, and when i get home the humidity is 70%! and it is stupid! i am gone during weekdays for the same amount of time, but i am spritzing even more, and it used to still be at 90% by the time that i got home, i even had to clean out a little swamp that had developed in the tank, shouldn't swamps increase the humidity, not decrease it? what the heck?

What kind of lid are you using? Is your substrate sandcastle consistency? If you have a good solid lid and your substrate is the right consistency then its likely that your humidity gauge is messed up.What kind of gauge is it? Dial or Digital?

You say cage.. are you meaning tank? Or are you using a cage? If using a cage that is your problem, you need a fish tank

i am using a lid that lets air in and you can slide it on, and my substrate is really wet. but today it was still at 90, so that improved, but thank you anyway. sometimes the guage is unreliable, so maybe you are right about it being broken.

If your using one of those mesh lids thats a problem as its not retaining the humidity your pumping in there on a regular basis so what you can do is cover the top part with Glads Press and Seal to about 90% and see if that stabilizes the humidity readings more.
