Mouldd!!!!

Post by backslash14 » Sat Nov 23, 2013 12:48 am

I have this bad tendency to leave fresh food for multiple days. Then I see it a bit mouldy and remove it. This bad practice has caused my wood that has never been mouldy in years to catch the moulds! I'm so distraught! What do I need to do to get all the stuff in their tank usable again, like it's obviously time for a deep clean.Do I just need to scrap this wood? I've had mould on one of those half logs that came off with drying and a saltwater bath/rub.. at least I hope it came off. Please share your tips!

That is what I have seen work. Scrub, salt water soak, bake.

just scrub it off with salt water and soak it to make sure you have killed all the spores you can bake it dry on a low temp in your oven or just air dry for several days, stick by a heat duct. if you have it growing on your substrate and not deep cleaning take a good inch or so off the top. make sure your temp and humidity is correct. mold over time is very harmful to crabs and can cause death. so you really want to get out of this bad habit, put in at night before bed and first thing in the morning when you get up take it out. they will not starve. keep cuttle bone in there, dried oak leaves or maple leaves that have been cleaned soaked in salt water and dried to kill bugs, they don't mold and they munch on these all the time..

What color is/was the mold?
Hi I have autism so I tend to answer questions very directly and with little emotion so please don't think I'm being rude.
