How do you all buy food for your hermit crabs? I wanted to order from the Hermit Crab Addiction, but my mom wouldn't let me order because the shipping was so high for what I was ordering. What do you suggest? Thank you!

I usually by fruits and veggies from my local grocery store and insects from a pet store, so that there is most of my hermit crabs diet. When I do ordear food online I use the hermit crab patch, I have no complaints so I definitely recommend them. I can't recall what the shipping price was, but it wasn't too expensive.

I do the same, I buy a pack of chicken wings or legs and put them in baggies. Then I zap one in the microwave in their water.let cool then pick the meat off the bones I try to crack open the marrow inside they love to eat. Fruits and veggies I zap the same way if needed. Buy organic foods like peanut butter, baby foods ( really check the label) make sure it says what is only on the front of the jar. No salt or extra sugar. buy a bag of unsalted walnuts they keep for a long time in the frig. I crush them up. Hard boiled eggs, when they are cooled I take the whole egg and smash it open in their food bowl. If I need something on the internet I ask someone who has a credit card to get it for me because I don't own one. Some offerings can be bought on Amazon. You can get a Amazon gift card and open a free account this way it doesn't have to go into parents banking things.

Basically what you get from the crab stores are a convenience food just like us buying juice when we can technically make our own. Any meat or sea food that isn't salted, seasoned, brined ect... organic veggies/fruit is best but if not I think there is like a dirty dozen list in one of the food list sections just avoid the most likely to have pesticides or grow your own then you know what is on them. Some of the items like spirinula powder and sea weed you can get at health food stores. If you have a dehydrator just dehydrate and powder your own food for the crabs.
