Really hairy hermit??

Post by Guest » Sun Oct 12, 2008 2:45 am

This morning I picked up one of my crabs and I was looking between his his pinchers and he is super hairy! It's not just 'fuzz', he has like a beard! Lol.None of my other hermits are that hairy, so is it 'normal' for hermit crabs to grow that much hair?

The hairs you see are called setae, they're sensory hairs and most prominent immediately after a molt. I believe as a result of daily activity and digging that the majority of hairs fall out over time.

Spay or neuter your pet. It's a matter of life or death.
