I lost Tom

I am brand new to this site, and I am so sad to say my first topic is the loss of one of my friends - Tom. It appears that Tom lost a battle for his shell with his room-mate Tim. I found Tim is Tom's shell this a.m. and Tom torn apart! I have other shells in the tank for them, but it appears Tim wanted Tom's! Is this normal? I have owned them for 8 months without any problems! I am very sad and would appreciate some feedback. Thank you!
