Deliliah.
I had this little booger for a year and four months. I got her on August 11, 2007, my second clutch. I picked her because she was sporting a pink shell and she was pink.I wanted a pink hermit crab. When I first got her, she was really stubborn and ill-tempered. She refused to come out of her shell..till the day I grew frustrated and held a half of a grape, her favorite thing to tear apart and nibble on.She came out and after that, she trusted me.She pinched me, she clung to Jackie O's whiskers, escaped for ten minutes, tore my tank up whenever I got a new decoration. It was her tradition. She'd sit in the chola branch like a guard and only allows Katrina to come in.She OWNED that chola branch. She had a signature shell- the green turbo. She refused to look at other shells, she only tried on green turbos. She'd hoard popcorn and grapes in her cave underground. I'd take her out at night time and put her on my lap, letting her crawl around. She pinched me like a needle but not hard enough to make my skin bleed. She welcomed new comers. She was friendly but you had to earn her trust.I can remember the moment vaguely when I let Aubrey hold her. I turned around for a moment and BAM. She pinched her. She done that to EVERYONE. Then I learned she's not the crab to be held by everyone. She hated to get wet- she'd cower whenever I check the humidity and mist the walls. She'd run around and dash into the hut.I prepared a Thanksgiving meal for her last year- she devoured the turkey and cranberries, she was there for two days, eating her stomach out. And now, she and I don't get to have a Thanksgiving this year. I'm not going to forget you.I learned alot from you, I studied you, I admired your stubbornness and gorgeous coloring on your legs.November 25th, 2008.I'm getting five new crabs and guess what?I'm going to name one of them, Deliliah Bee.In memory of you and London Bee.Theres not another crab like you.It may seem silly but she was basically everything to me in my crabbing world.
